UBM Holds PKM at Poris Indah High School: Understanding UI/UX Design Principles by Designing a Simple Mobile Interface

The Information Systems Study Program of Bunda Mulia University has carried out a Community Service (PKM) activity entitled “Understanding the Principles of UI/UX Design by Designing a Simple Mobile Interface” at Poris Indah High School, Tangerang . This activity took place on October 20 and 27 and November 10 and 24, 2025 , involving 157 students as the main participants. This PKM was carried out by the implementing lecturer Yemima Monica Geasela, S.Kom., M.Kom. as the chair, along with members of the teaching team Angelina Pramana Thenata, S.Kom., M.Kom. , Merryana Lestari, S.Kom., M.Kom. , and Fergie Joanda Kaunang, S.Kom., MS . The activity was also supported by 15 students as training facilitators. The purpose of this activity is to provide students with an understanding of what UI/UX is , why it is important in the digital era, and how to design a simple interface using Figma . The material is delivered through an interactive training method, which combines basic interface design theory with hands-on practice of creating wireframes and mockups.

During the implementation, the team provided guidance to students in understanding the principles of layout, visual hierarchy, and the basics of prototyping. Students demonstrated high enthusiasm and were able to produce simple interface designs as a result of their learning. Poris Indah High School teachers also participated in training to learn how Figma can be applied in ICT learning. The results of the questionnaire evaluation showed that the activity received an average score of 3.84 , with the indicators “Education” and “Transparency” receiving the highest scores. These findings indicate that the activity was considered useful, easy to understand, and relevant to students’ needs. Through this activity, Bunda Mulia University strengthens its commitment to improving the community’s digital literacy and helping high school students prepare themselves to face the demands of competency in the technology era.
