Jakarta, May 13, 2025 – The student activity unit Biems Theater from UBM Ancol Campus successfully held its 14th grand stage production titled “Kursi Panas” (“The Hot Seat”). The performance took place at The UBM Grand Auditorium (TUGA) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM WIB and was met with great enthusiasm.
From early morning, the atmosphere around TUGA was filled with excitement from the crew and cast. Starting at 9:00 AM, the entire team gathered beside the auditorium for an initial briefing. After a short orientation, the artistic team moved into the makeup room to prepare costumes and makeup for the performers, while the production crew busily transformed the stage into a grand theater setting.

As evening approached, the anticipation from the audience grew. By 5:30 PM, spectators began filling the auditorium. The event officially opened at 6:00 PM with a lively introduction by the host, followed by a warm welcome speech from the theater’s advisor. The opening curtain revealed a captivating performance of music and dance, marking the beginning of the “Kursi Panas” storyline.

The play explored the theme of political intrigue in the fictional nation of Solonesia. What began as a light-hearted atmosphere gradually shifted into tense moments of conflict and power struggles among the country’s elites. Amid the turmoil, a common citizen emerged as a symbol of change. Eventually, the mastermind behind the chaos was revealed, leading to a collective awakening among the parliament to reform and usher in a new, hopeful era.

At exactly 9:00 PM, the stage lights dimmed, signaling the end of the show. A moment of silence was quickly replaced by a roaring round of applause and standing ovation. The audience was visibly moved—some still caught in the emotional weight of the story, others impressed by the surprising plot twists. More than just entertainment, “Kursi Panas” left a profound impression on everyone present.

This annual performance is the highlight of Biems Theater’s 2024/2025 season. Planned and prepared since January 2025, the production stands as a testament to the passion, dedication, and teamwork of the entire cast, crew, and management. Beyond being a creative outlet, Biems Theater serves as a space for expression and a home that nurtures a sense of family among its members. The success of “Kursi Panas” not only brings pride to the student organization but also to everyone involved. We hope to continue creating even greater works in the future.
