On Friday, February 23, 2024, a group of students from the Hospitality & Tourism program, along with other UBM students, gathered at The Premiere Room on the 2nd floor of UBM Ancol Campus to attend a seminar titled “Exploring Insights into the Hospitality & Tourism Industry.” The event, which commenced at 12:40 PM WIB, was conducted offline with strict health protocols in place, and it was also broadcasted online to allow participation from remote attendees.
The seminar, held in collaboration with the Alumni Career and Center (ACC) Department, proved to be a valuable learning experience for the students. The first session featured presentations by Ms. Arie Paramitasari, the Head of Human Resources at The Union Group, followed by the second session led by Mr. Ikin Solikin, the Training Manager at Hotel Gran Melia Jakarta. The feedback from the questionnaire distributed during both sessions indicated the enthusiasm of the students towards the seminar, with their input and suggestions serving as valuable insights for future improvements.
A total of 78 respondents participated in the questionnaire, representing all seminar attendees who joined the event both onsite and online. Based on the questionnaire data tabulation, it can be concluded that the materials presented by both speakers were well-received by the participants. Ms. Arie Paramitasari received an average rating of 3.7 out of 4 for the content and implementation variables, with a satisfaction rate of 92% out of 100%. Similarly, Mr. Ikin Solikin received an average rating of 3.8 out of 4 for the content and implementation variables, with a satisfaction rate of 98% out of 100%. This indicates that the materials delivered by both speakers were of high quality.
The event concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Hotel Gran Melia Jakarta and Universitas Bunda Mulia. The MoU was represented by Mr. Ikin Solikin, the Training Manager at Hotel Gran Melia Jakarta, and Ms. Murniati, the Senior Manager of the Alumni Career and Center (ACC) Department.
While the seminar was deemed successful, there were suggestions for improvement, particularly regarding scheduling to avoid any appearance of rush, as well as adjusting the room capacity to ensure smooth proceedings and better retention of the materials by the participants.
