Tangerang, May 20, 2025 — Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) proudly held a public lecture titled “From Algorithmic and RL-Based to LLM-Powered Agents”, delivered by Prof. Bo An, a leading expert in Artificial Intelligence and professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. This open lecture welcomed students from all academic backgrounds, reflecting UBM’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and fostering interdisciplinary competence.
In his presentation, Prof. Bo An explored the rapid evolution of intelligent agents—from traditional algorithmic approaches and reinforcement learning (RL)-based models to the emergence of large language model (LLM)-powered agents. He explained how this paradigm shift has revolutionized the functionality of AI systems in terms of generalization, human interaction, and flexibility in decision-making processes.
Prof. Bo An also highlighted the challenges in balancing solution optimality with model generalization, particularly in critical domains such as national security and financial technology. Additionally, he introduced real-world applications of AI agents in multi-agent coordination, game-theoretic modeling, and the use of Quantal Correlated Equilibrium (QCE) to represent subrational human behavior.
The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from students who raised thoughtful questions regarding the ethical, technical, and societal implications of implementing AI systems in real-world environments.
