The Accounting Study Program once again held a public lecture on auditing with the theme “The Future of Auditing and Oversight: AI in Uncovering Irregularities.” The event took place on Friday, October 4, 2025, at The UBM Premiere Room, 2nd Floor, Universitas Bunda Mulia.
The organization of this public lecture was driven by the fundamental transformation currently taking place in the auditing profession in the digital era. The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics technology has brought significant changes to audit methodologies, particularly in enhancing the ability to detect irregularities more accurately and efficiently.
The event featured Mr. Sylvester Wali, S.E., B. Comm. (Acc. and Fin), CA AuNz, as the guest speaker. He serves as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and International Liaison Partner at BDO Indonesia, with an educational background from Monash University and extensive professional experience in international auditing. This public lecture was intended for Accounting students, especially those specializing in auditing, to help them understand the future direction of the auditing profession.
The success of this event was supported by Ms. Catheryn Iona Nelson, S.Ak., M.Ak., who served as the moderator, along with Miss Esper and Miss Phebyana from BDO Indonesia. The event was also supported by the Accounting Student Association committee members: Fitri, Ellen, Yulia, Karmilla, and Ferry. The program began with opening remarks from Ms. Catheryn Iona Nelson, S.Ak., M.Ak., a lecturer of the Accounting Study Program, at 10:30 a.m. (WIB), and recorded the participation of 100 students.
As a token of appreciation, the Accounting Study Program presented a certificate of recognition to Mr. Sylvester Wali, S.E., B. Comm. (Acc. and Fin), CA AuNz. This public lecture is one of the initiatives of Universitas Bunda Mulia to continuously enhance industry-oriented learning quality, in line with its tagline:
