Tangerang, February 10, 2026. Mr. Nicholas Wilson, SE, MM, a lecturer in the Management Study Program at Bunda Mulia University (UBM) Serpong Campus, held a Community Service (PKM) activity as part of the institution’s commitment to improving entrepreneurial literacy among the younger generation. This collaborative activity with SMA Strada Thomas Aquino, Tangerang, took place at the Lecture Hall, Alfa Tower, 5th Floor, UBM Serpong Campus, Alam Sutera, Tangerang, Banten, carrying the theme “Business Creation.” The event was attended by 278 students and ran for approximately 60 minutes, from 10:30–11:30 WIB. Mr. Nicholas was accompanied by Nia Angelia, a student of the Management Study Program at UBM Serpong, who helped ensure the smooth running of the activity. This PKM aims to provide a comprehensive and realistic understanding of the business world, especially to dispel common myths, such as: starting a business always requires large capital; quality products automatically sell immediately; entrepreneurs must be brave enough to take extreme risks; failure marks the end of the road; and the learning process stops after having a business.
Using a systematic approach based on practical experience, Mr. Nicholas explained that many successful businesses actually started from limited resources that foster creativity and innovation. A product’s success is determined not only by its quality, but also by the effectiveness of its marketing strategy, understanding of consumer behavior, and the ability to build a position in the market. Mr. Nicholas emphasized that successful entrepreneurs are those who are able to identify, measure, and manage risks in a planned manner, rather than simply taking large risks without calculation. Furthermore, Mr. Nicholas also emphasized that failure is an integral part of the learning process—not the end point—and requires a lifelong learning mindset and the ability to adapt to business dynamics. Furthermore, the topic of leadership was discussed as a key element: business leaders must be able to manage teams, formulate strategies, make data-based decisions, and establish a clear vision to drive business sustainability.
Following the presentation session, the event continued with a discussion and an interactive question and answer session with 12th-grade students of SMA Strada Thomas Aquino, Tangerang. Participants enthusiastically asked questions ranging from the challenges of starting a business to strategies for facing market competition, which enriched understanding and provided space for clarification of the concepts presented. Overall, this PKM is expected to provide a real contribution in forming a rational, adaptive, and knowledge-based entrepreneurial mindset, as well as motivating students to design and develop business ideas in a more structured and sustainable manner.
