On Saturday, August 23, 2025, students from the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia participated in the Making Bed and Towel Art Competition, part of the Indonesia Housekeeping Olympic (IHO) 2025. This prestigious event was organized by the Indonesian Housekeepers Association (IHKA), a professional association serving as a forum for housekeeping practitioners in Indonesia. The competition was attended by more than 80 participants, consisting of vocational schools (SMK) in tourism, tourism universities, and professionals from the hospitality industry from various regions across Indonesia.
The Making Bed and Towel Art category was a team competition, with each team comprising two participants. Each participant had a specific role: one was responsible for Making Bed and the other for Towel Art. The first team representing Universitas Bunda Mulia’s Hospitality and Tourism program (Hospar) consisted of Marcellino (Making Bed) and Felicia Kristanto (Towel Art). The allocated duration for the competition was 7 minutes for the Making Bed category and 10 minutes for the Towel Art category.
The standards for the Making Bed segment were as follows:
For the Towel Art segment, the theme set by the committee was “The Beauty of the Indonesian Sea,” challenging participants to creatively depict the beauty of Indonesia’s marine environment through the art of towel folding. This activity was guided and mentored by Mr. Ika Suryono Djunaid, S.ST.Par., MM.Par, a lecturer in the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia.
