Jakarta, September 27, 2025 – The Hospitality and Tourism Study Program at Bunda Mulia University (UBM) will host an Industry Visit to the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, in conjunction with the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (Halal Indo 2025) on September 27, 2025. This visit aims to provide students with real-world insights into the operations of a large-scale MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) venue, as well as the collaboration between event organizers, tenants, and the government.
The visit will be attended by 57 first-year students, including international students, and led by two faculty members, Pak Yudhiet Fajar Dewantara, S.Pd., M.Par., and Lamtiar Hema Malini, S.Par. MM. The event provides a unique opportunity to observe firsthand the venue’s operational layout, crowd flow, and security services, as well as the emerging trends in halal tourism, which intersect with the halal lifestyle.
The key objectives of the visit include:
Observing MICE venue operations, including layout, crowd flow, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for security and services.
Identifying stakeholder collaboration practices between organizers, tenants, government, and the community.
Mapping opportunities and challenges related to halal tourism in the context of events and venues.
Generating student recommendations for improving the visitor experience.
The program’s agenda includes a site briefing by faculty members, structured venue and event observations using observation sheets, participation in the talk show “Seberapa Halal Kamu?: Gaya Hidup & Produk”, and a walkthrough of the venue’s halal-friendly services. The visit will conclude with a debrief session where students will share their insights and reflections.
This visit aligns with several courses within the Perspektif Ilmu Pariwisata (Tourism Science Perspective) curriculum, including topics on tourism industry understanding, MICE practices, and halal lifestyle trends in tourism. The visit aims to provide students with critical thinking and professional communication skills, preparing them for future careers in the hospitality and event sectors.
