Tangerang, September 24, 2026 – The Hospitality and Tourism Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (UBM) held a Public Lecture entitled “Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo” at ICE BSD City, Thursday (September 24, 2026). The activity, which took place from 10:00–17:00 WIB, was attended by 59 participants as part of industry-based learning in the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. This activity aims to provide students with direct experience in understanding the development of the halal industry in Indonesia, product innovation, the implementation of industry standards, and various opportunities for future halal industry development, especially those related to the hospitality and tourism sectors. One of the main agendas of the activity was the “Inspiring Talkshow from the Minister of Industry” session, which presented Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita as a resource person. Through this session, students gained insight into the development of the national industry, the potential of the halal industry, product innovation, and the importance of increasing industrial competitiveness in facing global market developments.
Students’ participation in the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo also provides an opportunity to directly observe various products, innovations, and developments in the halal industry ecosystem. This experience is expected to strengthen students’ understanding of the link between halal industry development and the needs of the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Received Very Good Response from Participants Based on the results of the activity evaluation questionnaire, the implementation of the Public Lecture and the HIIE 2026 industrial visit received a very positive response. The average overall assessment reached 3.75 on a scale of 4 or 93.75%, so that all aspects of the activity were in the very good category. Several aspects received the highest assessment of 3.80 or 95%, including the process of activity implementation, mastery of the material by the resource person, the ability to deliver the material, the use of appropriate methods, and the ability to answer participants’ questions.
Meanwhile, the aspect of increasing applicable knowledge and skills received a score of 3.60, or 90%. Although this was the lowest score compared to other indicators, this result still falls into the very good category and indicates that the activity provided real benefits in broadening participants’ knowledge. Participants also gave positive assessments of the appropriateness of the media and facilities used and the ability of the speakers in creating a supportive atmosphere for the activity, which each received a score of 3.70, or 92.50%. Overall, this activity was deemed capable of providing a relevant learning experience for Hospitality and Tourism Study Program students, particularly in understanding the halal industry, product development processes, industrial innovation, and the application of standards related to the needs of the hospitality and tourism sectors. Going forward, industry-based learning activities such as this are expected to continue to be developed through more interactive activities, direct industry exploration, and discussions of increasingly applicable topics, such as waste management, product downstreaming, industrial technology, and sustainable innovation. Through holding a Public Lecture and a visit to the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo 2026, the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program at Bunda Mulia University continues to encourage students to gain learning experiences that are not only theoretical but also directly connected to industry developments and needs.
