The atmosphere of the UBM Hall, 8th floor of Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM), transformed into a lively collaborative kitchen during the event CutThe Crab ACP x Honest Crab by Crabcraze—an interactive public lecture combining academic learning and hands-on experience in the seafood culinary industry. The event was initiated by students from UBM’s Hospitality and Tourism Study Program in collaboration with ACP Indonesia and Honest Crab by Crabcraze, a renowned crab-based culinary brand in Jakarta.
Experiential Learning with a Focus on Premium Crab Processing
The event featured an experiential learning concept focusing on the preparation and presentation of premium crab dishes—from preparation techniques to high-value plating. Through this program, students not only learned the technical aspects of seafood processing but also explored the economic value and sustainability of marine products in the context of the modern tourism industry.
High Enthusiasm and Cross-Institution Collaboration
A total of 166 participants joined the event—80 from UBM and 86 external participants from 13 schools and universities in tourism and culinary fields. Among the external participants were representatives from SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Cileungsi, SMK Pariwisata Citayam, SMKN 70 Jakarta, SMKN 27 Jakarta, SMKN 32 Jakarta, SMK Bina Mulia, SMK Science Technology and Business, NCSA (National Culinary Service Academy), Pradita University, SV-IPB University, and Poltekpar NHI Bandung.
UBM students from various semesters—ranging from the first to the seventh—showed strong enthusiasm and commitment to learning directly from industry professionals. This collaboration exemplified real synergy between academia and the professional world in developing future-ready hospitality talent.

Post-event satisfaction surveys revealed impressive results, with average scores above 4.7 out of 5—equivalent to a 95–97% satisfaction rate.

Event Atmosphere: Learning, Networking, and Creating
The event opened with remarks from ACP Indonesia’s representative, followed by a live cooking demonstration by the Honest Crab by Crabcraze team, showcasing premium crab preparation and plating techniques. Participants actively engaged by asking questions, interacting with the chefs, and trying new hands-on culinary experiences.
The atmosphere was both relaxed and educational, combining demonstration, discussion, and reflection. Some participants shared that the event gave them a “real picture” of the professional culinary industry and the career opportunities within it.
Next Steps and Recommendations
The organizing committee evaluated the event as a major success in both execution and educational outcomes. For future programs, it is recommended to extend the practical sessions and develop them into ongoing thematic classes, involving more industry partners and expanding training methods for greater interactivity.
