Tangerang, 15–30 April 2025
In line with the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) successfully conducted a Community Service (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/PKM) program at SMA Mater Dei Pamulang from April 15 to April 30, 2025. The activity was themed “Introduction to Big Data and Its Importance in the Digital Era.” The primary objective was to introduce the basic concepts of Big Data to 11th-grade students and to enhance their digital literacy in addressing the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0.
The training was conducted over three sessions, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Topics covered included the 5Vs of Big Data (Volume, Velocity, Variety, Veracity, and Value), and how data technology is applied in everyday life, particularly in the education sector. One of the highlights was a hands-on session on data exploration and predictive modeling using machine learning in the healthcare sector.
The program involved 45 students and received high enthusiasm. Based on the evaluation results from over 140 respondents, the activity was rated as educational (average score: 3.35), accountable (3.31), and transparent (3.36), with a note for improvement in objectivity (3.20). Participants suggested that future programs should be extended in duration and include more hands-on sessions and interactive discussions.
This initiative serves as a strategic step in raising awareness among younger generations about the importance of data utilization in academic and social decision-making. It also reflects UBM’s commitment to bridging the technological knowledge gap at the secondary education level. Through this program, UBM aims to continue expanding its positive impact on more educational institutions, aligning with the university’s vision of shaping a tech-savvy, ethically grounded, and critically minded young generation in the digital era.
