Jakarta, July 10, 2025. The Accounting Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia successfully held a Community Service Program (PKM) online in collaboration with SMK Pelita Raya Jambi City with the theme “Implementation of ESG in the Context of School Sustainability.” The event was attended by 12 staff members of SMK Pelita Raya Jambi City and took place with great enthusiasm.
The program began at 10:00 AM WIB, opened by Mrs. Catheryn Iona Nelson, S.Ak., M.Ak., a lecturer from the Accounting Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the educational environment as a concrete step to support school and environmental sustainability.
Next, a representative from SMK Pelita Raya Jambi City, Mr. Pernando Setiarman Sihombing, S.Kom., delivered his remarks and expressed appreciation for this collaborative educational initiative. The program continued with the screening of three inspirational movie clips on environmental awareness: Waterworld, WALL-E, and Avatar, guided by Mrs. Catheryn Iona Nelson, S.Ak., M.Ak.
During the main session, material on sustainability concepts and ESG implementation was presented by Dr. Ririn Breliastiti, S.E., M.M., CSRS. In her presentation, she provided a comprehensive explanation of the vital role of educational institutions in preserving the environment and fostering a culture of sustainability within schools.
The event became even more engaging when all participants filled out a carbon footprint calculator to estimate their individual annual carbon emissions. The session was facilitated by Marvin Luckianto, a student of the Accounting Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia. The staff member with the lowest carbon footprint was Mr. Ando, demonstrating a personal contribution to reducing carbon emissions.
As the program concluded, Mrs. Catheryn Iona Nelson, S.Ak., M.Ak. once again expressed her appreciation to all participants and conveyed her hope that this activity could serve as the beginning of small but meaningful steps toward realizing a sustainable and environmentally friendly school.
This program reflects the tangible commitment of the Accounting Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through ESG-based education and community service.
