Tangerang, October 2, 2025 – In the era of digital transformation, data has become a strategic asset that determines the direction of organizational decision-making. As the volume, variety, and velocity of data generated increases, database technology continues to evolve. Traditional database systems now face significant challenges in accommodating the needs of large-scale, real-time, and distributed data processing through cloud computing services.
Responding to these challenges, the Information Systems, Informatics, and Data Science Study Program at Bunda Mulia University (UBM) held a public lecture titled “Trends and Challenges of Modern Databases in the Big Data and Cloud Era” on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the UBM Lecture Hall, Serpong Campus. This activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, combining students from the Serpong Campus onsite and students from the Ancol Campus online .

The event featured keynote speaker Mr. Handojo Goenadi , GM IT Business Intelligent of PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, Tbk., who shared his practical experiences and insights regarding the implementation of modern database systems in the national retail industry. He also presented two professional colleagues from Alfamart, namely Mr. Reza Norahmad, and Mr. Condro Yuniarto , a data warehouse expert who has handled Alfamart data management for over 23 years.
This public lecture aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in database systems, from Relational Databases , NoSQL , Cloud Database Services , to Big Data Analytics . Through this activity, students are expected to gain technical and managerial insights relevant to current industry needs, while also preparing themselves for career challenges in the digital age.



By bringing in experienced practitioners directly from the industry and involving collaboration between three study programs, Bunda Mulia University affirms its commitment to providing applicable, adaptive learning that is connected to the professional world in the era of Big Data and Cloud Computing.
