Tangerang, May 26, 2026 – The Voice of UBM (VOU) Serpong Campus Student Activity Unit (UKM) has successfully held the 2026 National Hybrid Seminar with the theme ” Feel The Music: Understanding Emotions and Using Music the Right Way “. This activity was held offline at The UBM Sport Hall, 11th Floor, UBM Tower and hybridly through the Zoom Meeting application. This seminar was attended by 129 internal participants who attended onsite , 50 internal participants who attended online , and 21 external participants who attended online . This activity was held as an educational tool for students and the general public to understand the influence of music on emotions, the brain, and mental health, as well as learn how to use music appropriately in everyday life.

The event began with an opening by the MC. Next, participants filled in the first attendance, listened to remarks from the Vice President of UKM The VOU Serpong Campus, the Chair of the Event, and the Advisor of UKM The VOU Serpong Campus. After reading the rules of the event, the event continued with singing the Indonesian national anthem and the Bunda Mulia University March. The MC then introduced the moderator, Deanna Lawrence Dwi Aselya as a Bunda Mulia University student, Chair of the Event, and Vice President of UKM The VOU Serpong Campus, who guided the seminar. This seminar activity presented Ms. Tassya Tanzil, BA, MA, NMT-F as a Neurologic Music Therapist and Fellow as the main resource person. In the material presentation session, the resource person explained that music not only functions as entertainment, but also has an influence on a person’s nervous system, emotions, memory, and psychological health. Participants were introduced to the concept of Using Music the Right Way which consists of the validation phase, release phase, flow phase, and anchoring phase as stages in understanding and managing emotions through music. In addition, the resource person also explained how the brain processes emotions and memories through music and the influence of melody and lyrics on human emotional responses.

Following the presentation, the event continued with a talk show and interactive Q&A session that discussed various emotional experiences related to music, the role of performers in conveying a song’s message, and the use of music as a means of emotional regulation and recovery. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident throughout the discussion, both on-site and online . As a token of appreciation, the committee awarded prizes to the best questioners who actively participated throughout the session.

Towards the end of the event, participants participated in an icebreaker session, which involved guessing song titles based on the displayed images. The event then continued with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the speakers and moderator, a group documentation session, and a second attendance check. The event closed with an MC and a performance by a band from The VOU Serpong Campus, adding to the lively atmosphere of the seminar.

Through the 2026 National Hybrid Seminar, The VOU Serpong Campus Student Activity Unit (UKM) hopes to enhance participants’ understanding of the relationship between music, emotions, and mental health. Furthermore, this activity is expected to encourage participants to use music more wisely as a means of expressing, understanding, and managing emotions in everyday life.
