Tangerang, 17 September 2025 – The Debate Club of Universitas Bunda Mulia, Serpong Campus, successfully held a Meet & Greet: Clashing Words, Uniting Minds event at R502, Alfa Tower. This event was designed to introduce students to the world of debate through introductory sessions, experience sharing, and an interactive debate simulation.
The activity began with an ice-breaking session titled “Would You Rather,” where the MC posed simple questions, and participants responded with agree or disagree arguments. This session aimed to lighten the mood while also encouraging participants to confidently express their opinions.

Next, the Debate Club committee members from UBM Serpong Campus introduced themselves and presented the club’s activities. Cassandra, Vice President of the Debate Club, also delivered a session on the two major debate formats — Asian Parliamentary and British Parliamentary — while sharing her personal experiences in participating in various debate competitions.

The highlight of the event was the debate simulation session with the motion “Committee agrees that the use of AI by students should be limited.” In this simulation, participants were divided into two teams: pro and contra.
The pro team emphasized that uncontrolled use of AI could reduce students’ creativity and critical thinking skills, making restrictions important to maintain academic quality.
On the other hand, the contra team argued that AI is a relevant tool in the digital era that can enrich the learning process. For them, what is needed is literacy and ethical use, not restrictions.
The debate proceeded dynamically with logical, critical, and enthusiastic arguments. The active engagement of participants added to the lively atmosphere, showing that the simulation successfully served as both an effective and enjoyable learning space.

The event concluded with a door prize raffle based on the numbers distributed during the open booth held from 25 to 29 August. The door prizes were won by Melvino Afandra and Jeremiah Christian Hidayat, followed by a photo session with the winners and a group photo of all participants and committee members.
Lastly, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants of the Meet and Greet Debate Club Serpong Campus 2025/2026. We hope that through this event, students of Universitas Bunda Mulia will develop healthy competitiveness and actively take part in future debate activities and competitions.
