Jakarta, September 24, 2026 — The Hospitality and Tourism Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (UBM) conducted an industrial visit to the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (HIIE) 2026 which took place at ICE BSD City on Thursday, September 24, 2026. This activity is a form of experiential learning to provide students with a direct understanding of the development of the halal industry and its opportunities in the world of hospitality and tourism.
This industrial visit aims to introduce students to real-world industry dynamics, from product innovation, the implementation of industry standards, halal certification, to business development strategies that can increase the competitiveness of Indonesian products. Through this activity, students have the opportunity to visit various halal industry exhibition areas and see firsthand the various products and innovations developed by industry players. In addition, students also participate in a public lecture session discussing industry developments and future challenges. The halal industry is now not only related to the food and beverage sector, but has expanded into various fields such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, lifestyle, and other supporting sectors. Understanding the halal industry is becoming increasingly important, especially for Hospitality and Tourism students who will face the needs of global consumers who are increasingly concerned with aspects of quality, safety, and product standards.
During the activity, students gained an understanding that halal certification is not only a form of regulatory compliance but also a strategy for building consumer trust and increasing the added value of a product. The halal industry has significant potential for growth and plays a vital role in supporting national economic growth. This activity also provided students with the opportunity to understand how an industry is built through innovation, product development, marketing, and collaboration between various parties. The firsthand experiences of industry players provided insights into the challenges and opportunities that young people can capitalize on in the workplace and in the world of entrepreneurship.
Based on the results of the activity evaluation, participants gave a very positive response to the implementation of this industrial visit. The questionnaire results showed an overall average score of 3.75 on a scale of 4 or 93.75%. The assessment aspects with the highest scores included the activity implementation process, mastery of the material, the ability to deliver the material, the use of appropriate methods, and the ability to answer participants’ questions with a score of 95%.
