They also expressed their gratitude to all media partners who contributed. The event continued with remarks by Mr. Natta Louistio, S.Ikom. as the Representative of the UBM Student Body and Nathania Octavius as the Event Chair. In the seminar material presentation session, Mrs. Thea presented material on the importance of understanding and managing emotions, especially in public speaking situations and appearing in public. In her presentation, participants were invited to understand that emotions are psychological and physiological responses that directly influence how a person thinks, feels, and acts when facing pressure. Nervousness, fear of making mistakes, and losing focus when speaking in front of an audience are said to be common forms of emotions experienced by many people.

Furthermore, Ms. Thea explained that poorly managed emotions can affect a person’s performance, both in terms of thoughts, physical condition, and behavior. Some examples discussed included the emergence of negative thoughts, heart palpitations, trembling voice, and difficulty concentrating when delivering material. Therefore, participants were introduced to the concept of emotional regulation as the ability to recognize, understand, and control emotional responses effectively in order to continue to appear confident. In addition to delivering the material theoretically, she also presented an interactive session through various simple practices that can be applied in everyday life. Participants were invited to practice breathing techniques to help calm themselves, build positive self-talk to reduce negative thoughts, and do body awareness exercises and short public speaking simulations. Through this session, participants were expected to be able to understand that public speaking is not about appearing perfect, but rather about conveying a message calmly, confidently, and with full self-awareness. After the presentation session was completed, the main MC opened a question and answer session ( Q&A ) with a quota of two questions from onsite participants and two questions from online participants. The enthusiasm of the participants was very high throughout the session. Ms. Thea answered each question very well and informatively. To conclude the question-and-answer session, he summarized the material by emphasizing the importance of transforming negative self – talk into more positive and supportive ones. Phrases like “I’m bound to fail” or “I’m incapable” should be replaced with “I’m learning” or “I’ve tried my best.” He also reminded participants not to focus too much on others’ judgments and instead prioritize their own development and the goals they want to achieve. He concluded by emphasizing that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process, so one shouldn’t expect perfection.

After the Q&A session was over, the next session was the awarding of the ToA ( Token of Appreciation ). The ToA was given by Mr. Natta Louistio, S.Ikom. to the resource person, namely Abigail Theodora Tanzil, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist. The series of seminars was then closed by the MC with a documentation session with the participants. With the ability to manage emotions well, it is hoped that participants will be able to communicate more effectively, appear more confident, and develop their potential optimally, both in academic environments, organizations, and daily social life.
