Anxiety is a common emotional experience for many people, especially students transitioning to independence. Academic demands, social adjustments, pressure to excel, and worries about the future often contribute to anxiety in college life. Anxiety is not just about the mind; it also involves emotions and bodily responses. Worried thoughts, uncontrollable feelings of restlessness, and physical reactions such as difficulty concentrating are all part of the anxiety dynamics often experienced by students. When this condition persists, it can impact academic performance and the quality of interpersonal relationships.
One approach that can help individuals understand and manage anxiety is mindfulness . Mindfulness is the ability to consciously pay attention to the present moment without judgment. Through mindfulness practice, individuals can learn to recognize emerging thoughts and emotions, understand their body’s response to anxiety, and develop calmer and more adaptive ways of dealing with stressful situations. Awareness of one’s present experience is a crucial step in maintaining emotional balance and mental health.
Seeing the importance of this understanding, the Student Advisory Center (SAC) of Universitas Bunda Mulia, Serpong Campus, held a workshop themed ” Mindfulness for Anxiety “. This workshop aims to help students understand what anxiety is and how it affects daily life, recognize the connection between thoughts, emotions, and body responses when experiencing anxiety, and learn simple mindfulness strategies that can be applied to help manage anxiety more effectively. This activity is also expected to be an educational space for students to realize the importance of maintaining mental health and building self-awareness in dealing with the pressures of college.
The workshop will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00–1:00 PM WIB in the Lecture Hall, 5th Floor, Alfa Tower with Abigail Theodora Tanzil, M.Psi., Psychologist as the resource person. The workshop will be open to all active students of Universitas Bunda Mulia, Serpong Campus, free of charge, with a target of 50 participants. Through this activity, the Student Advisory Center hopes that students can understand that anxiety is not a sign of weakness, but rather part of the human experience that can be managed in the right way. By recognizing, understanding, and practicing mindfulness consistently, students are expected to be able to maintain emotional balance, improve psychological well-being, and live their college life more calmly and consciously.
