Jakarta, April 16, 2026 — The Hospitality and Tourism Study Program at Bunda Mulia University held a seminar titled “Joa-Yo Korean Seaweed Recipe Challenge: From Seaweed Snack to Signature Dish” at The UBM Master Kitchen Lab, Bunda Mulia University. This activity was attended by students majoring in Culinary Art and Innovation as a way to develop their creativity in processing seaweed into innovative dishes while simultaneously improving their digital marketing skills through social media. This seminar featured Shafiq Pontoh as a resource person who presented material on the basics of using social media for culinary branding, content creation strategies such as food photography and short videos, as well as tips for increasing engagement through captions, hashtags, and the right upload time. Through this activity, students not only gained insight into innovation in seaweed-based culinary products but also understood the importance of digital branding strategies in introducing food products to the wider community. This activity was motivated by the development of the culinary industry which is increasingly closely linked to digitalization. Currently, the success of a food product is not only determined by taste and quality, but also by the ability to present the product attractively through digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Therefore, students are encouraged to combine cooking skills with the ability to create creative promotional content that is relevant to market trends. Based on the results of the participant evaluation questionnaire, this activity received a positive response. A total of 74 respondents gave an assessment of the implementation of the seminar, with an average activity assessment being in the very good category. Participants considered the material presented useful, easy to understand, and relevant to the needs of students in the culinary and creative industry fields. Through this seminar, it is hoped that Culinary Art and Innovation students at Bunda Mulia University will be better prepared to face the challenges of the modern culinary industry, especially in creating innovative, marketable products that can be marketed effectively through social media.
