Jakarta, March 5, 2026 – The Bunda Mulia University (UBM) Master of Management Postgraduate Program has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting human resource development through Community Service activities. This activity was realized through training with the theme “Assertive Communication and Leadership” aimed at supervisors and managers at PT. Alfaland. This training was motivated by the results of the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) which showed that effective communication skills and inspirational leadership are the two most needed competencies in supporting team performance and achieving organizational goals. Therefore, this activity is designed to provide understanding and practical skills for participants in implementing effective communication and better leadership in the workplace.
This training activity was attended by 39 participants consisting of supervisors and managers from various divisions at PT. Alfaland. During the activity, participants received various materials regarding the concept of assertive communication, techniques for delivering clear and effective messages, and leadership strategies that can build positive, mutually respectful, and productive work relationships. In delivering the material, the resource person explained that assertive communication is an important skill for a leader in conveying ideas, instructions, and feedback clearly and firmly without ignoring the rights of others. Participants were also given an understanding of effective communication techniques in providing direction to the team, delivering constructive criticism, and managing conflicts that may arise in the work environment. In addition, the material on leadership emphasized the importance of the role of leaders in building motivation, showing empathy, and creating a conducive and collaborative work environment.
To ensure optimal understanding of the material, the training activities were conducted interactively through presentation methods, discussions, case studies, and simulations. Through this approach, participants not only gained theoretical understanding but also were able to directly practice communication and leadership skills in situations relevant to the world of work. Throughout the activity, the participants showed high enthusiasm and participation. This was evident from the participants’ active participation in discussions, asking questions, and sharing experiences related to communication challenges they often face in the work environment. Many participants stated that the material provided was very relevant to their needs as supervisors and managers in managing teams. This Community Service activity was carried out by a team from the Bunda Mulia University Master of Management Postgraduate Program consisting of Dr. Andreas Heryjanto, SE, MBA (NIDN: 0618126301) and Dr. Velly Anatasia, SE, MBA (NIDN: 0325029001) as the implementing lecturers. In addition, this activity also involved a Master of Management Postgraduate student from UBM, namely M. Khusaini (NIM: 81250018), who played a role in supporting the implementation of the activity. Based on the evaluation results through a feedback questionnaire filled out by the participants, this activity received a good assessment in the educational, objective, accountable, and transparent aspects. This shows that the training is considered to provide positive benefits in improving the understanding and skills of participants in implementing assertive communication and effective leadership in the work environment. Through this activity, the Master of Management Postgraduate Program at Bunda Mulia University hopes to continue to contribute to improving the quality of human resources in the industrial world and strengthening the synergy between the academic world and the professional world.
