Tangerang, May 17, 2025 – Sotthi Hotu, Namo Buddhaya, and Namo Amitofo. The Buddhist Spiritual Activity Unit KMB Dhammamitta of Bunda Mulia University, Ancol and Serpong campuses, held a celebration of the holy day Vesak 2569 BE / 2025 with the theme: “The Light of Vesak: Be a Candle for Yourself and Others.” The event took place at The UBM Premiere Class, 2nd Floor, Bunda Mulia University, Ancol Campus.
Vesak Day 2569 BE / 2025 is one of the most important and sacred holidays in Buddhism, usually celebrated between May and June. This holy day commemorates three significant events in the life of the Buddha: the birth of Siddhartha Gautama in Lumbini Garden, his enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, and his passing into Parinirvana in Kusinara at the age of 80.
The Vesak Day celebration held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, was attended by approximately 30 participants, including students from Bunda Mulia University and external guests. The event was graced by the presence of four members of the Sangha. The series of events began with a group devotional service led by a worship leader.
This was followed by a Yu Fo session (a ceremonial bathing of the statue of Prince Siddhartha) and a Dhamma talk delivered by Venerable Bhiksu Bhadra Pala Mahasthavira. Afterwards, a token of appreciation was presented by the organizing committee chairperson to Venerable Bhiksu Bhadra Pala Mahasthavira.
Before closing the celebration, the event included Amisa Puja as an offering and expression of reverence to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The event concluded with a closing devotional session and a group photo.
The aim of this Vesak Day 2569 BE / 2025 celebration was to provide a platform to observe the holy day, strengthen relationships both internally and externally, and expand networks. The event was carried out with joy and enthusiasm. In closing, we at KMB Dhammamitta extend the blessing: Sabbe Satta Bhavantu Sukhitatta – May all beings be happy.
