Jakarta, June 30, 2023 – Undergraduate and graduate students from the Communication Science program at Bunda Mulia University held a Public Lecture event titled “Social Media, Diffusion of Information, and the Future of Democracy.” This event took place online via Zoom and featured an Associate Professor named Luis Miguel R from Spain as the invited speaker. The event was attended by all undergraduate and graduate students from the Communication Science program in Ancol-Serpong. Communication Science faculty members also participated in this public lecture. The online event proceeded smoothly, with participants actively posing questions to the speaker.
According to Prof. Luis, the existence of social media has undoubtedly brought about changes and introduced the concept of “Influencers” as a new and engaging topic to explore in areas such as sustainable development, economics, well-being, and more. Furthermore, the principles of democracy will also be influenced by the massive developments in information and communication flows. Inviting an international expert for this event is one of the strategies aimed at enhancing the quality and knowledge of the students. Additionally, these efforts will continue to be strengthened in preparation for the Communication Science program’s pursuit of international accreditation.
