Hi Biemers!!!
Did you know? On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Universitas Bunda Mulia Distance Learning (PJJ) Management Study Program and Distance Learning (PJJ) Accounting Study Program held a seminar presented by Mr. Elkunny Dovir Siratan, S.Par., MM, who served as the MC and moderator.
This online seminar focused on the topic of “franchise,” titled Franchise Synergy Integrating Management & Accounting Programs. It discussed franchises as a business model that has proven to be successful by allowing individuals or companies to utilize the brand, operational systems, and support provided by the franchisor. However, the success of managing and developing a franchise is not solely dependent on a solid understanding of management aspects but also requires a strong grasp of accounting principles. In this context, it is important for management and accounting students to understand the significance of integrating management and accounting in managing franchise businesses. Effective integration of these two disciplines will provide a holistic understanding of how to build, manage, and expand a franchise business successfully.
The seminar began at 5:30 PM WIB, opened by Mr. Elkunny Dovir Siratan, S.Par., MM, as the MC and moderator. The event started with the singing of the Indonesian National Anthem, followed by the UBM Mars, opening remarks from Mrs. Tannia, SE., MM, Head of the Distance Learning (PJJ) Management Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia Ancol, and the reading of the CV of the speaker, Mrs. Yanty Melianty, Founder and CEO of PT Magfood Amazy International.
The purpose of presenting material on the world of franchises and entrepreneurship was due to Mrs. Yanty’s extensive experience in starting her business, which has now been running for approximately 23 years. Additionally, Mrs. Yanty has a vision to develop and advance entrepreneurship in Indonesia. This is evident through her establishment of the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Community (Yayasan Bina Karsa Mandiri) in July 2022, which has been operating for 22 years, aiming to educate and provide information (and networking) for micro and small businesses (UMKM). Furthermore, Mrs. Yanty discussed the management aspect, starting from the company’s background, which began with a cart concept to a franchise restaurant model, and how the organizational structure evolved over time. This was supported by accounting principles, starting from financial projections and cost of goods sold (COGS), along with tips and key considerations when preparing reports, financial controls, and reporting procedures.
Mr. Elkunny then invited all seminar participants to a Q&A session. There were four participants who posed very interesting and highly relevant questions about the topic of franchises, which were comprehensively addressed by Mrs. Yanty Melianty Warko, Founder and CEO of PT Magfood Amazy International, both from an academic and practical perspective.
Thus, the seminar titled Franchise Synergy Integrating Management & Accounting Programs made a significant contribution to all participants by enhancing their understanding and application of franchise business models, particularly with the integration of management and accounting practices.
