On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the Management Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia held a Community Service Program (PKM) in collaboration with PT. Mecosin Indonesia via Zoom. This PKM activity was presented by lecturers from Universitas Bunda Mulia, namely Mr. Andreas Wijaya, Mrs. Novita, Mr. Tutur Wicaksono, and Mr. Ongky Alex Sander. The activity also involved two students from the Management Study Program, namely Wirianti Irene Kartika and Kayleen Mieko Torhuta. The theme of this PKM activity was “HOW TO MAKE AN EFFECTIVE KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR (KPI)?” The activity started at 14:00 and was attended by more than 30 employees of PT. Mecosin Indonesia who needed an understanding of KPI formulation in their company. The event was opened with welcoming remarks from Miss Yurita Tjahaja, President Director of PT. Mecosin Indonesia.
The first session of the material was presented by Mr. Andreas Wijaya, who explained how to understand company performance. Company performance is derived in job analysis, which consists of job description and job specification. This job analysis needs to be done in KPI formulation so that the criteria given align with the SMART concept (Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Relevant-Time-based).
The next session was presented by Mrs. Novita. This session explained the design of KPI formulation. The KPI formulation design starts with understanding the strategic goals of the company, which will be implemented in the company’s KPIs. From these strategic goals, the company begins to identify the performance areas of each division and determine the appropriate KPI criteria based on the specific situation and condition of the performance area.
The next session was presented by Mr. Tutur Wicaksono, who explained the next step in KPI formulation design, which is KPI criterion weighting. The three things done in weighting are identifying relevant KPI criteria, setting specific goals for each KPI criterion, and then determining the weight of each KPI criterion. Every KPI achievement is recommended to be measured on a numerical scale (number). After the KPIs are formulated and implemented, the next step is to evaluate the KPI results.
The next session was presented by Mr. Ongky Alex Sander, who explained the steps that the company should take in evaluating KPI results. The evaluation is done with a comprehensive analysis and interpretation of the conditions and targets achieved during the KPI evaluation period. This results in constructive recommendations for each performance area to be considered for future company policies.
The session was closed with a Q&A session, during which all participants were enthusiastic in asking questions, which were satisfactorily answered by all the speakers. After the Q&A session, the event officially ended with a documentation session with all attendees and a closing speech by Miss Yurita Tjahaja. It is hoped that from this PKM activity, participants will be able to identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) optimally, based on performance area targets, job descriptions, and the tasks and responsibilities of each individual. Furthermore, it will provide a comprehensive and practical approach to building synergy between the company and its employees’ performance.
