Hi Biemers!!!!
It is not unfamiliar to hear the term “Leadership Fundamentals,” which aims to equip participants, especially students, university students, or organization members, with the basic skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to become an effective leader. This community service activity was delivered by Mr. Manongga Bryan Christian, a lecturer at Universitas Bunda Mulia, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Management Study Program, and Lavina Christy (12240168), an active student at Universitas Bunda Mulia. This activity was aimed at equipping the students of SMK 1 Strada Jakarta Pusat, participants of the Basic Leadership Training (LDK), who have been selected to be members of the OSIS management for the 2024/2025 period. It was held on Friday, October 18, 2024, with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM WIB. The activity took place in the school hall. The participants appeared enthusiastic about following each session that was prepared.
The activity was divided into two sessions, namely:
The material was delivered with a duration of 45 minutes, interspersed with one ice-breaking session. The material presented included the definition of leadership and leaders, the importance of interpersonal skills for a leader, recognizing leadership styles and their application, and ended with an explanation of the 7 Core Skills of A Leader.
After listening to the material, the participants were asked to conduct a self-assessment to evaluate how ready/qualified they were to become a leader. The indicators used were in line with the 7 Core Skills of A Leader, namely Relationship Building, Communication, Innovation & Change, Critical Thinking, Motivation, Coaching, and Collaboration. Participants were asked to rate themselves using a scale of 1-5 regarding their mastery of each skill listed above. The final results of the assessments were then totaled, and each participant received a leadership competency score.
The purpose of this self-assessment was to allow participants to recognize their strengths and weaknesses so that, moving forward, they could maximize their strengths and work on improving their weaker areas. It is hoped that with this activity, participants would be better able to recognize themselves and be motivated to develop further. This second session lasted for 15 minutes.
The session ended with a Q&A, where the speaker provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions, and the participants were very enthusiastic in this Q&A session. The activity was concluded with a closing by Mr. Manongga Bryan Christian and a group photo session.
From this community service activity, it is hoped that all participants, in this case, the OSIS members of SMK 1 Strada Jakarta Pusat, will be ready to carry out their duties during the academic year 2024/2025.
