Jakarta, August 26, 2026, Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (UBM) Ancol Campus received a special invitation to carry out a Retail Business Industry Visit packaged in The 5th Edition of The Indonesia Retail Summit & Expo 2026 which carries the theme ” Rethinking Retail: The Future is Customer-Led ” at Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue, North Jakarta. This activity was attended by 50 participants from the Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (UBM) Ancol Campus and accompanied by Mrs. Tannia, SE., MM as Head of the Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University and Mr. Elkunny Dovir Siratan, S.Par., MM as a lecturer of the Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University. The activity which took place starting at 08.30 WIB became a means of off-campus learning for students of the Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (UBM) Ancol Campus to directly understand the development of the Indonesian retail industry amidst the rapid digital transformation, technological developments, changes in consumer behavior, and the increasing importance of business strategies oriented to customer needs and experiences. This event was opened and inaugurated by Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and was also attended by:

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto also stated that the government continues to encourage domestic trade to become more modern and adaptable to changes in the economy and consumer behavior. One area that needs to be developed is shopping tourism, so that more tourists choose to shop in Indonesia. Retail expansion also needs to reach rural areas through the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives, while also opening markets for agricultural, fishery, and regional products. The government is also encouraging more products marketed through retail to be sourced domestically, so that trade growth also supports industry and MSMEs. Digitalization also strengthens the retail ecosystem. As of June 2026, QRIS has been used by 65.77 million users and 44.86 million merchants, with 96.68% of them being MSMEs.

The participation of Bunda Mulia University Management students in this activity aims to broaden their knowledge of the dynamics of the retail industry while enhancing their understanding of the application of management science in the industrial world. Through various seminars and discussion sessions, students gain perspectives from practitioners, business actors, associations, and stakeholders on a number of strategic issues, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, supply chain resilience, human capital , trade policy, marketing strategy, and customer-driven business decision-making. These discussions provide students with the opportunity to connect the theory learned during lectures with the real-world practices and challenges of managing a modern retail business.

The series of activities began with registration and the opening of the Indonesia Retail Summit & Expo 2026 , followed by a seminar featuring speakers from industry, associations, technology companies, and the government. In the next session, participants had the opportunity to participate in a discussion on the challenges of the textile and apparel industry supply chain amidst developments in trade policies and the session ” When AI Chooses What Customers Buy: What’s Next for Malls and Tenants? ” which discussed the influence of artificial intelligence on consumer behavior and the future of shopping centers and tenants. The activity then continued with the session ” High Level Networking: The Hidden Engine Behind Retail Growth “, which highlighted the importance of networking and collaboration in driving the growth of the retail industry. In addition to attending the conference, students also visited the exhibition area which presented more than 50 exhibitors with various technologies, solutions, and the latest innovations to support the development of the retail ecosystem.

Through this Industrial Visit, the Management Study Program at Bunda Mulia University hopes that students will not only gain additional academic knowledge, but also be able to build professional networks, gain inspiration from practitioners, and improve their readiness to face the world of work. The experience of participating in this national-scale business forum and industry exhibition is expected to strengthen students’ competencies in the fields of marketing, operations, human resources, supply chain, innovation, and customer-oriented business strategies. The entire series of activities took place smoothly and conducively and were completed according to the established objectives, so that this activity became an applicable learning experience for students of the Management Study Program at Bunda Mulia University, Ancol Campus in understanding the development and future of the Indonesian retail industry.
