Tangerang, August 10, 2026 – Bunda Mulia University (UBM) through the Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Information Systems Study Program carried out a Community Service (Abdimas) activity at SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency. This activity raised the theme “Building Teacher and Student Readiness in the Implementation of Coding and Artificial Intelligence Learning at SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency” as a form of higher education contribution in supporting the readiness of the world of education to face the development of Coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The activity was attended by teachers from various fields of study at SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa as well as student representatives from grades 7, 8, and 10. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their involvement throughout the activity, especially when the discussion began to be directed at examples of AI applications that are close to everyday life and learning activities. The Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa, Mrs. Timing Merawati, S.Pd., M.Pd., welcomed the implementation of the Abdimas program. This program is considered to provide new insights for teachers and students regarding the development of Coding and AI while opening perspectives on opportunities for utilizing technology in education. The positive response from schools also demonstrates the importance of collaboration between universities and schools in preparing human resources that are adaptive to technological developments. The first topic, “Understanding Coding and Artificial Intelligence in the World of Education,” was delivered by Rosalia Deviana Cahyaningrum, M.Si. The topic provided a basic understanding of coding and AI and their relevance in the world of education. Participants were introduced to the concepts and roles of these technologies as part of the development of digital literacy and competencies that are increasingly needed in the learning process. This conceptual understanding was then strengthened through the session “Showcase Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Real Life (Live Demonstration AI)” presented by Puguh Hiskiawan, Ph.D. Through live demonstrations, participants were able to see how AI works and is utilized in various real-life activities. This approach provides a more concrete experience so that participants not only understand AI theoretically, but also can see the potential for its application in everyday life and the world of education. The technology utilization aspect is also complemented by the material “Ethical, Safe, and Responsible Utilization of Artificial Intelligence” delivered by Srava Chrisdes Antoro, M.Si. This material emphasizes that the ability to use AI needs to be balanced with awareness of ethics, security, privacy, information verification, and user responsibility. Teachers and students are encouraged to understand that AI is not just a tool that can produce information, but a technology that must be used critically and responsibly. The series of materials provides a comprehensive experience for participants, starting from introducing the concepts of Coding and AI, seeing their implementation directly, to understanding the principles of using technology ethically, safely, and responsibly. This approach is expected to help teachers gain new perspectives in facing developments in learning technology while encouraging students to be better prepared to adapt to technological changes in the future. Through this Abdimas activity, UBM continues to strengthen the role of higher education in making real contributions to society through knowledge transfer and collaboration with educational institutions. Collaboration with SMP Negeri 1 Tigaraksa is expected to be part of a joint effort to build an educational ecosystem that is increasingly adaptive, critical, and responsible in facing the development of Coding and Artificial Intelligence.
