A workshop on selecting reputable international journals was held in Room 201, Ancol Campus, on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, was attended by 10 permanent lecturers interested in developing scientific article publications in reputable international journals. This event was held to strengthen lecturers’ capacity to understand scientific publication strategies. The selection of reputable international journals is considered crucial because it can determine the quality, reach, and academic impact of published scientific articles.
In the scientific publication process, authors are not only required to be able to compose good articles. Authors also need to understand the characteristics of the right journal. The alignment between the scope of the article and the focus of the journal is one of the initial factors determining the chances of a manuscript being accepted. This workshop featured Prof. Usep Suhud, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Jakarta State University, as a resource person. He provided conceptual explanations, practical guidance, and applied discussions regarding strategies for selecting journals appropriate to the research field.
Through this activity, participants gained a stronger understanding of the criteria for reputable international journals. They were also encouraged to be more thorough in assessing the journal’s scope, publisher reputation, writing standards, and the suitability of the manuscript to the focus of the target journal. In addition to discussing journal selection strategies, this activity also emphasized the importance of systematic scientific article writing skills. Lecturers are expected to be able to compose articles that meet international standards, from problem formulation and argumentation to affirming the novelty of the research.
