Jakarta, June 4, 2026 — Bunda Mulia University’s Hospitality and Tourism Undergraduate Program conducted an Industrial Visit to Gran Meliá Jakarta on Thursday, June 4, 2026. This activity was attended by 25 4th semester students and accompanied by 1 accompanying lecturer as part of an effort to strengthen practice-based learning in the field of hospitality and tourism.

This industrial visit demonstrates Bunda Mulia University’s Hospitality and Tourism Undergraduate Program’s commitment to providing a holistic learning experience for students. Through this activity, students not only gain theoretical understanding in the classroom but also gain firsthand insight into the operational practices of star-rated hotels, professional service standards, and the competencies required in the hospitality industry.

Gran Meliá Jakarta was chosen as the destination for the visit because it is a star-rated hotel that implements professional service standards in the hospitality industry. During this activity, students received an overview of the hotel’s profile, operational structure, guest service standards, facility management, food and beverage service, and the application of hospitality service excellence in an international hotel environment.
The event began with the arrival and registration of participants at 2:00 PM WIB, followed by an opening ceremony by representatives of the Hospitality and Tourism Undergraduate Program at Bunda Mulia University and representatives from Gran Meliá Jakarta. Next, participants attended an introductory session on the hotel industry and the profile of Gran Meliá Jakarta, which discussed the hotel’s operational systems, professional work ethics, and human resource needs in the hospitality sector.
In addition to the presentation session, students also participated in a hotel tour or observation of the hotel’s operational areas. Through this session, students gained a first-hand introduction to several key areas of hotel operations, such as the lobby, front office, guest facilities, meeting areas, food and beverage outlets, and other relevant areas in accordance with hotel policy.
This activity also provides students with the opportunity to interact directly with industry practitioners through discussions and Q&A sessions. Through these interactions, students gain an understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and professional standards necessary to prepare for entering the tourism and hospitality workforce.
Through these industry visits, students are expected to connect the theory they’ve learned in class with real-world practice. This activity also serves as a means to enhance student preparedness for the world of work, develop professional insight, and strengthen their understanding of the importance of service quality, communication, discipline, and work ethic in the dynamic hospitality industry.
The Hospitality and Tourism Undergraduate Program at Bunda Mulia University hopes that this industrial visit will be a meaningful learning experience for students while strengthening the relationship between higher education and the industrial world.
