
Bandung, April 9, 2026 – Bunda Mulia University (UBM) has collaborated with Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) to organize the Digitalization and Mapping of Gastronomic Tourism Workshop on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The workshop aims to introduce digital technology in mapping gastronomic tourism routes and explore the cultural potential embedded in Indonesia’s traditional cuisine.
The event was attended by more than 70 participants, including graduate students from the UPI Master’s Program in Tourism, undergraduate students from the UPI Culinary Industry Management Program, as well as 10 lecturers, practitioners, and representatives from SMEs. The workshop featured prominent speakers from Bunda Mulia University and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, who provided valuable insights into the development of the digital-based tourism sector.
The first speaker, Dr. Dewi Turgarini, S.S., MM.Par., ACICT., ACAITAS, a lecturer from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, discussed “Digitalization of Gastronomic Tourism in Indonesia.” She explored the role of technology in developing and mapping culinary destinations in Indonesia and how digitalization can enhance the appeal of culinary tourism destinations for visitors.

The second speaker, Dr. Yudhiet Fajar Dewantara, S.Pd., M.Par., a lecturer from Bunda Mulia University, spoke about “Best Practice in the Implementation of Digitalization in Betawi Gastronomic Tourism.” In his session, he emphasized the importance of Betawi cuisine as a part of Jakarta’s cultural identity and how digitalization can introduce this culinary heritage to a wider audience, making it a unique and authentic tourist attraction. Dr. Yudhiet also received recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field of digital tourism and gastronomy. As a speaker at this workshop, he provided invaluable perspectives to the attendees and inspired many to innovate in the digital tourism sector.

The technical workshop speakers, Praja Muktarin, Tarisah Aniahaque, and Mufi Datun Nisa, presented on the Gastronomic Tourism Mapping Workshop, focusing on the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in mapping the patterns of gastronomic tourism routes. Their work helps both tourists and destination managers identify the best culinary locations with greater efficiency.

The Importance of Digitalization in Gastronomic Tourism
This workshop offered in-depth insights into how culinary digitalization can enhance the appeal of gastronomic tourism destinations in Indonesia. The use of technology, such as GIS, enables a more structured mapping of gastronomic tourism routes, helping tourists discover regional culinary specialties and providing more detailed information to destination managers.
