Bunda Mulia University Management Study Program held another public lecture on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM WIB, with the theme “Conflict Resolution Through Effective Negotiation Skills” . This activity took place at the Alfa Tower Lecture Hall, 5th Floor, and was attended by 86 students, 8 student committee members, 1 lecturer in charge of the Conflict Management and Industrial Relations course, and the Secretary of the Management Study Program. This public lecture presented a resource person, namely Mr. M. Zaenal Abidin, or familiarly known as Mr. Bidien, as the Director of Talent Business Partner, IPC, at KC-Softex Indonesia. The event was moderated by Mr. Dr. Oloan Situmorang, MM.
From the beginning of the session, the atmosphere was warm, with the enthusiasm of the participants evident from their full attention to the material presented. In his presentation, Mr. Bidien invited students to understand the importance of the ability to manage conflict through effective negotiation skills. He explained that conflict is inevitable, both in everyday life and in the workplace, but how a person responds to conflict will determine the outcome. He also emphasized the importance of shifting mindsets from looking for who is at fault to seeking the best solution, and how negotiation can be a means to reach mutually beneficial agreements. To strengthen the participants’ understanding, the speaker shared several case studies taken from real-life experiences in the workplace, such as examples of organizational conflict and the negotiation process in reaching agreements between various parties.
These examples sparked active discussion among students, the moderator, and the speaker. The Q&A session was dynamic, with a variety of questions. Mr. Bidien responded to each question with clear and relevant explanations, thus helping students understand the importance of conflict resolution and negotiation skills as provisions for facing the professional world. Towards the end of the activity, the Secretary of the Management Study Program, Mr. Budi Christanto, SE, B.Bus., MM, and Lecturer of the Management Study Program, Mrs. Christy Ayu Sarah Panjaitan, SE, MM, presented Tokens of Appreciation as a form of gratitude to the speakers and moderator for their contributions and insights. The event concluded with a group photo session and closing remarks from the MC. The public lecture, themed “Conflict Resolution Through Effective Negotiation Skills,” provided students with new insights into the importance of conflict management and effective negotiation skills in the workplace. Through this activity, students are expected to understand that conflict is inevitable but can be effectively managed through effective communication and negotiation.
