The Management Study Program of Bunda Mulia University held another public lecture on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 5:10 PM WIB, with the theme “Mastering the Art of Performance Reviews: From Evaluation to Growth”. This activity took place at M2 UBM Tower, 12th Floor, and was attended by 43 students, 7 student committee members, 2 lecturers teaching the Performance Management course, and the secretary of the Management study program. This public lecture presented Dr. Dedianto Turnip, ST, MM, CTMP, CHRP., SE, MM, MT, Director of Human Capital, Corporate Affairs, and Legal at one of the companies operating in the F&B industry in Indonesia, as a resource person. The event was moderated by Chandra Hosen, SE, MM, MT. From the beginning of the session, the atmosphere was warm, with the enthusiasm of the participants evident in their full attention to the material presented. In his presentation, Dr. Dedianto invited students to re-understand the essence of the performance review process.
He explained that performance evaluation is not just an annual assessment, but a dialogue process that, if conducted properly, can encourage employee growth while improving organizational performance. Various important aspects were also discussed, starting from the formulation of relevant performance indicators, techniques for delivering constructive feedback , managerial challenges in conducting evaluations, and how to turn assessment sessions into productive coaching moments. To strengthen the participants’ understanding, the resource person shared several case studies taken from real-life experiences in the industry. These examples sparked active discussion between students, the moderator, and the resource person. The question and answer session was dynamic, with questions ranging from the challenges of performance evaluation practices in large companies to the application of coaching methods in dealing with employees with varying performance. Dr. Dedianto responded to each question with comprehensive and flowing explanations, helping students further understand the context of application in the workplace.
Towards the end of the activity, Dr. Ika Pratiwi Simbolon, SE, MM, CMM, Head of the Management Study Program, presented Tokens of Appreciation as a token of gratitude to the resource person and moderator. The event then concluded with a group photo session and closing remarks from the MC. The public lecture, “Mastering the Art of Performance Reviews: From Evaluation to Growth,” provided students with new insights into how performance evaluation can be a strategic tool in talent development. Through this activity, students are expected to see the performance review process not merely as an administrative obligation, but as a work culture that sustainably builds the quality of human resources.
