Tangerang, November 17, 2025 – Bunda Mulia University (UBM), through its Community Service (Abdimas) students, held an educational program entitled “Building Information Security Awareness Among High School Students” at SMAN 8 Tangerang City. This activity was held in four sessions on October 3, October 22, October 30, and November 11, 2025 , involving eleventh-grade students as participants.
The Community Service Program (Abdimas) is designed as part of UBM’s effort to support digital security literacy in educational settings, particularly at the high school level. This initiative is driven by the low level of public awareness of various information security risks, including the dangers of using public Wi-Fi , the existence of fake apps , phishing threats, and the importance of password management and authentication . In this ever-evolving digital era, the ability to understand and anticipate cyber threats is a fundamental competency that is essential for the younger generation.
The activity was conducted through an interactive PowerPoint presentation designed to help students understand information security concepts more clearly and in a structured manner. In addition to the presentation, a discussion and question-and-answer session was also an important part of the activity. UBM students, acting as facilitators, assisted students in identifying examples of digital threats commonly encountered in everyday life and explaining possible protective measures.
Throughout the entire program, a supervisor accompanies the students to ensure the program runs smoothly, is focused, and aligns with the learning objectives. The supervisor’s presence also provides academic support, ensuring that the material presented is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date with current information security issues.
Through this community service activity, UBM students not only have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gained in their studies but also make a real contribution to society by raising awareness of cyber threats. This activity is part of UBM’s commitment to fostering an educational ecosystem that cares about digital security and raising student awareness about safeguarding their personal information.
UBM hopes that similar activities can continue to be implemented in various other educational institutions as a form of sustainable contribution to strengthening digital literacy and building a culture of internet safety from an early age.
