Hello Biemers !
The Digital Business Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) once again demonstrated its commitment to knowledge dissemination through a Community Service activity. In collaboration with the Digital Business Student Association (EXODUS), English Academy Center Rawamangun, and external partner Emina Cosmetics, the event carried the theme “Utilizing BMC for Effective Management.”
Held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the activity aimed to strengthen digital literacy and entrepreneurial skills among students and educators. Conducted on-site at English Academy Center Rawamangun, the event featured Mr. Reynard J.N. Makarawung, S.E., M.M. from the Digital Business Program as the keynote speaker.
From Ideas to Socially-Driven Business Models
This PKM session was designed to teach participants how to transform ideas and aspirations into concrete business plans using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework. In his presentation, Mr. Reynard emphasized that in today’s digital age, business success is determined not only by profitability but also by the ability to create meaningful social impact.
Drawing on theories by Osterwalder and Pigneur (2010) and Massa, Tucci, and Afuah (2017), participants were introduced to key BMC components such as:
Methodology: Theory + Hands-On Practice
The event was divided into two main parts:
Interactive discussions were used to explore business ideas that resonate with the participants’ daily lives, fostering a collaborative and open learning environment.
Outcomes: Confidence, Critical Thinking, and Collaboration
Through this program, students and instructors at English Academy Center gained deeper insights into how to develop socially responsible business models. They learned to analyze markets, manage resources, and create solutions based on social value.
Feedback from participants indicated a boost in confidence and clarity in formulating business strategies. The program’s participatory approach also encouraged emotional and intellectual engagement, resulting in productive teamwork and idea generation.
“I now realize that business is not just about selling—it can also help others. Learning how to build a business is actually fun,” shared one student enthusiastically.
Toward an Inclusive and Digitally Adaptive Society
This Community Service activity is part of the BDB11 – Introduction to Digital Business course and reflects UBM’s dedication to developing social competencies and extending the reach of higher education into the community.
Moving forward, UBM is committed to expanding the scope of its Community Service programs, strengthening partnerships with schools and non-formal education institutions, and innovating to support the transformation of society into a more adaptive, inclusive, and competitive digital community.
