Hello, Biemers!
The Digital Business Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) once again demonstrated its commitment to community development through a Community Service Program (PKM). In collaboration with the Digital Business Student Association (EXODUS), this program carried the theme “Social Impact Mapping”, targeting students and teachers from SMK Bunda Mulia.
The event was held at UBM Ancol Campus on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 08:15 to 10:15 AM. The session began with a presentation on the Business Model Canvas (BMC) concept delivered by Mr. Reynard Makarawung, a lecturer from the Digital Business Study Program. Following the theoretical introduction, participants were actively involved in group discussions and a hands-on workshop on designing social business plans using BMC.
Enhancing Digital Business Literacy Through Practical Approaches
Business Model Canvas (BMC) is a strategic framework widely used in entrepreneurship to design, visualize, and evaluate business models. In this session, students were introduced to the nine core elements of BMC—from customer segments to revenue streams—which they used to create business solutions with social value.
Mr. Reynard emphasized that in the digital era, understanding BMC isn’t just about building profitable businesses.
“We need to encourage the younger generation to build businesses that are socially responsible, not just competitive,” he stated.
Positive Outcomes from Campus–School Collaboration
Using a participatory approach, students were divided into groups and encouraged to develop business ideas based on their personal interests and local social issues. With direct guidance from lecturers, students gained practical experience in business planning.
Evaluation results from 20 participants reflected a positive reception of the activity, with the following average scores:
| Assessment Component | Average Score |
| Educative | 3.30 |
| Objective | 3.45 |
| Accountable | 3.35 |
| Transparent | 3.40 |
Participants described the program as fun, engaging, and highly beneficial. Suggestions included improving room comfort and extending the session duration.
Toward a Generation of Socially-Oriented Innovators
This activity served as a real-life implementation of the Introduction to Digital Business course and fulfilled the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service. In addition to expanding students’ knowledge of digital entrepreneurship, it also strengthened collaborative ties between UBM and SMK Bunda Mulia.
Moving forward, the Digital Business Study Program aims to expand this type of activity to a broader audience, taking concrete steps toward shaping a young generation that is creative, innovative, and capable of developing sustainable, socially impactful business solutions.
