Jakarta, May 2025 – Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM), in alignment with its tagline “Bridging Education to the Real World”, held a Community Service Program (PKM) themed “Big Data for Accounting” at SMK Ariya Metta from April 9 to May 9, 2025. The program aimed to strengthen students’ comprehension of digital transformation in the accounting field, aligning with the SIE05 – Big Data course.
This initiative responded to the growing significance of big data in the accounting industry, including its impact on decision-making, financial analysis, auditing, and tax management. The activities involved three onsite sessions, targeting 10th-grade accounting students. Topics included the fundamentals of big data, its application in accounting cycles, and its relevance to future career opportunities.
The program was executed through structured presentations and interactive discussions led by UBM lecturers and students. Each session was accompanied by academic advisors to ensure knowledge transfer and engagement. Students gained insights into the use of digital tools such as financial software and data analytics, while the school benefited from enhanced digital literacy and accounting system development support.
A total of 80 students participated, and feedback from the evaluation showed strong agreement on the program’s educational value, relevance, accountability, and transparency—with average scores ranging from 3.49 to 3.70 (on a 4-point scale).
This PKM initiative successfully bridged the gap between vocational education and modern industry demands. It also emphasized the importance of technological adaptation and critical thinking for future accountants. Participants suggested improvements in content delivery and interactivity for future sessions.
Through this activity, UBM reaffirmed its commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education by fostering practical, real-world learning experiences and building sustainable academic-community partnerships.
