Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) Activity by the Digital Business Department with the Theme “Digital Storytelling: Enhancing Students’ Creativity in Creating Educational Content” in Collaboration with SMP Negeri 96 Jakarta

On this occasion, the Digital Business Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia collaborated with the Student Association of the Digital Business Program (EXODUS) to carry out a Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) activity attended by SMP Negeri 96 Jakarta. This activity carried the theme “Digital Storytelling: Enhancing Students Creativity in Creating Educational Content”, aiming not only to improve technical skills in producing digital content but also to foster creative, collaborative, and responsible character in students when using technology.

This PKM activity was designed to equip students with basic skills in creating educational digital content through the digital storytelling approach using visual platforms such as Canva. Through this training, students were expected to learn how to structure storylines, select visual elements, and actively convey messages effectively through digital media.

The PKM activity took place at SMP Negeri 96 Jakarta on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 09.00 to 10.00 AM WIB. The event consisted of a theoretical presentation on Digital Storytelling for developing visually-based educational narratives, followed by group discussions and hands-on practice in creating their own digital content. The speaker for this event was Mrs. Umi Suryani from the Digital Business Study Program, who provided practical insights and guidance to the participants.

Through this activity, we hope to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and schools, while also enhancing the social competence of lecturers in delivering relevant knowledge. This also serves as a step towards accelerating digital economic development among students, enabling them to better adapt and grow sustainable businesses that positively impact society and the surrounding environment.

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) is a concrete manifestation of the academic commitment to develop and dedicate knowledge to the public. Let’s work together to drive change toward progress by upholding social values in our communities.
