On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Study Programs of Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) at Asrama Asuh Yatim & Dhuafa, under the National Zakat Agency in Depok. The event carried the theme “Data Tells a Story: Mapping Life at the Orphanage Through Numbers and Graphs”, aiming to equip young participants with basic knowledge of data—how to collect, process, and present it in the form of engaging visuals and meaningful data stories. This approach encouraged participants to express their personal experiences and aspirations through creative and visual formats.
The event ran smoothly with a structured agenda that included opening remarks by students, ice breakers, lectures by faculty members, Q&A sessions, group prayers, and photo sessions. A total of 24 children from the orphanage actively participated in the entire program. The lectures were delivered by UBM faculty members, each covering different but interconnected topics, including an introduction to data, data collection, visualizing data through graphs, and an overview of artificial intelligence to support self-reflection and future insight.
The response from both participants and the orphanage staff was overwhelmingly positive. The program was seen as highly beneficial in broadening the children’s understanding of the importance of data in daily life and its relevance to future career opportunities. This community service activity also reflects UBM’s commitment to integrating real-world learning into its curriculum, particularly from courses such as Introduction to Data Science, Data Science Statistics, and Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. Through initiatives like this, Universitas Bunda Mulia reaffirms its dedication to making meaningful contributions to society—especially to the younger generation—through creative, educational, and practical approaches.
