Tangerang, May 3, 2025 – Talent Student Activity Unit (UKM Talent MCU) of Bunda Mulia University, Serpong Campus, successfully held a workshop themed “MC Mastery” at Classroom 1401, 14th Floor, UBM Tower, featuring an experienced speaker, Christina Tandaju, S.I.Kom., M.Si.. The workshop was held in two sessions, on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, and Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, with a total of 20 MCU members participating.
This workshop served as an effort to improve the competencies of aspiring MC practitioners, aiming to delve into professional event-hosting techniques and hone essential interpersonal skills for creating an engaging and harmonious atmosphere. In the first session, Ms. Christina emphasized the importance of recognizing one’s voice character in order to develop skills that align with one’s personal style.
“A high-pitched voice suits festive events with an upbeat atmosphere. A high tone should be paired with a low one,” said Miss Christina Tandaju, who then guided participants through vocal exercises using different tones to help them discover their natural voice.

Additionally, Miss Christina Tandaju shared useful tips for MCs to host an event smoothly, including what foods and drinks are advisable before performing, etc. She emphasized the importance of proper language, specifically using correct Indonesian language, and encouraged participants to read more to expand vocabulary for conversational fluency.
An MC should understand and observe their audience, event type, and objective’s event. An MC must build a strong bond with their co-host to ensure a comfortable collaboration on stage. She also addressed the appropriate posture for MCs and provided feedback on the participants’ current hosting performances.
The first session concluded with individual and paired practice sessions where participants demonstrated how they would host events and practiced using diaphragmatic breathing. Miss Christina Tandaju offered hands-on guidance and feedback throughout.

The second session continued with unscripted MC practice. With professionalism, Miss Christina Tandaju demonstrated various MC styles suited for various events such as mall promotions, corporate gatherings, and more.
Leandro, Nathania, Josevin, Arnold, and other participants took turns hosting an event without a script, relying only on the event rundown. Afterward, Miss Christina Tandaju reminded participants that public speaking skills must be continually practiced, as they evolve over time. She also emphasized that learning about public speaking is both valuable and an investment.
After completing the two workshop sessions, the event concluded with group documentation. Hopefully, this workshop broadened the participants’ knowledge and insights, enabling them to become a better MCs in the future.
