On Tuesday, February 4, 2025 the Management Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia, Ancol Campus, conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) at SMA Santa Maria Della Strada North Jakarta. The event was conducted onsite starting at 10:00 AM WIB for the first session and at 12:00 PM WIB for the second session. This community service program was conducted to enhance students’ understanding of investment and enrich them with broad knowledge about how to start their own business from a young age. This activity was led by lecturers from the Management Study Program, namely Dr. Velly Anatasia, S.E., M.B.A., and Mr. Alexander Robert, B.A., M.Sc., accompanied by two Management students who are members of the Excellent Community of Management: Sierryn Christabelle Panca (12240172) and Sheva Ariani Putri (12240287).
The first session, presented by Dr Velly Anatasia, S.E., M.B.A., took place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB. In this session, she explained the differences between being a business owner and an investor. She emphasized that investment requires clear objectives, strategies, and risk management. Students were encouraged to start investing wisely and gradually, avoid using essential living expenses for investment, and select appropriate investment options such as mutual funds for beginners or stocks from companies with widely used and market-available products. Additionally, students were introduced to small capital business opportunities, such as creative services and handmade product creation, and were taught how to analyze stock charts using stock market applications.
The second session, presented by Mr. Alexander Robert, B.A., M.Sc., took place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM WIB. In this session, he shared tips for effective stock investing, methods for reading stock charts in stock market applications and selecting suitable investment platforms for beginners, such as mutual funds. He also explained how to calculate the average income required today to meet future financial goals.
Both sessions covered the same material but were attended by different groups of students. As speakers, Dr. Velly Anatasia, S.E., M.B.A., and Mr. Alexander Robert, B.A., M.Sc., shared insights on fundamental investment concepts, business tips for high school students, and stock price chart analysis through investment apps. Through these presentations, students at Santa Maria Della Strada High School were expected to develop critical thinking in identifying business opportunities, understand the importance of financial planning, and strategize their investments effectively.
The PKM program was met with great enthusiasm from the students, as seen in the interactive discussion and Q&A session at the end of the event. During this session, students were given the opportunity to ask direct questions to the speakers and share their experiences in business ventures they had already started. The discussion became a highly anticipated moment, allowing students to delve deeper into investment strategies.
The Q&A session was not only an opportunity to test students’ understanding and exchange ideas and experiences but also a platform to expand their knowledge on how to manage investments efficiently and effectively from an early age. Through the presentations and answers provided by the speakers, it is hoped that the session will serve as valuable insight and motivation for students to start investing—whether in real businesses or the stock market—early on, and potentially build sustainable businesses from their investments.
