On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Universitas Bunda Mulia held a Community Service (PKM) activity in collaboration with PT Salam Pasific Indonesia Lines (PT. SPIL) with the theme “Improving Employee Productivity With Time Management.”
The PKM session was presented by Mrs. Novita, S.E., M.Si., along with two active Management program students, Caliska Aldira and Deviani Aryasathi. The event started at 3:00 PM WIB and was opened by Mrs. Novita, who served as the main speaker.
This PKM activity focused on time management, which involves planning activities or tasks by allocating time efficiently to make the best use of it. In today’s fast-paced world, time management has become an essential skill for companies to ensure productivity and success.
The ability to manage time effectively has a significant impact on employees’ ability to complete tasks. As workloads increase over time, employees need strong time management skills to handle their responsibilities efficiently. On the other hand, employees with poor time management skills often struggle to complete their tasks, which can negatively affect their productivity.
One of the key strategies for time management discussed was the Eisenhower Matrix. Through this matrix, employees learn how to manage their work priorities. The matrix divides tasks into four categories based on urgency and importance. The first category, Do, consists of tasks that are close to their deadline and have significant consequences, making them the top priority. The second category, Schedule, includes tasks that can be delayed but are still necessary for the future of the company or the employee’s personal development. The third category, Delegate, involves delegating tasks to others so that primary responsibilities can be handled more efficiently. The fourth category, Delete, refers to activities or tasks that interfere with focus and concentration, which should be minimized to ensure optimal performance on essential work.
Before concluding the PKM activity, Mrs. Novita gave three employees from different divisions the opportunity to outline their tasks using the Eisenhower Matrix. This served as a practical exercise in time management and a valuable learning opportunity for the other participants. The PKM session concluded with participants filling out a feedback questionnaire, followed by a group photo session.
This PKM activity ended at 16:30 WIB. It is expected that through this activity, the participants, namely employees of PT. SPIL, are able to manage their time so that they can increase their work productivity.
