In an effort to produce a generation of superior and competent tour guides, Bunda Mulia University Ancol and Serpong Campus is proud to announce the implementation of the Java Overland Tour guiding practice exam activity, Yogyakarta, which will take place on 10 – 13 January 2024. This activity involves Semester 5 students and students. Entertainment and Leisure Management specialization to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical situations, develop interpersonal skills, and prepare them to become reliable tourism leaders.
This practical guiding exam activity was accompanied by 2 lecturers from the Ancol Campus, namely Mr. Dewanta Facrureza, S.ST.Par., MM.Par. and Mr. Vishnuvardhana S. Soeprapto, B.A., M.A. as well as 1 lecturer from the Serpong Campus, Mrs. Veronica, S.E., M.Par.
Practical guiding activities are an integral step designed to ensure that students not only have a strong theoretical understanding of tourism, but also the practical skills needed in the field. Students are invited to undergo hands-on experience in guiding groups of tourists, managing trips, and responding to real-world challenges that may arise.
In this activity, students take turns being tour guides and tourists at several tourist attractions. With the theme Java Overland Tour, Yogyakarta, the tourist attractions chosen include historical places, namely Fort Vredeburg, Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace, Taman Sari, Borobudur Temple and Mendut Temple.
The students involved in this activity have shown high enthusiasm in taking part. They hope to apply their knowledge in an experience that will be memorable and beneficial for the development of their careers in the tourism industry.
Departure will be on January 10 2024 at 19.00 from the Ancol and Serpong campuses using a bus to Yogyakarta via the Trans Java toll road and arriving in Yogyakarta on January 11 2024 at 06.00. The trip to Yogyakarta begins with breakfast at Kopi Klotok Kaliurang. After breakfast, on the first day, students started practical guiding activities at Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace, Taman Sari, Fort Vredeburg, and Malioboro. The second day, January 12 2024, students carried out tour guiding activities at Borobudur Temple and Mendut Temple. On the third day, January 13 2024, before returning to their hometown, participants were allowed to shop for souvenirs first.
Through practical tour guiding activities, students are expected to be able to develop tour guide skills in providing information, communicating and handling situations that may arise during a tour.
