Before entering the material session, the students were entertained by a special performance from Biefindc, a student activity unit, which delivered an energetic dance performance to a song by the K-pop girl group Red Velvet. The event then continued with a presentation by Ms. Virgitta Septyana, S.I.Kom., M.Si., who served as the keynote speaker for the Communication Meeting.

The session began with an explanation of the competition submission mechanism for students of the Communication Studies Program. Starting this semester, the program provides a system that allows students from all cohorts to apply for participation in competitions relevant to the field of Communication Studies. The types of competitions that can be facilitated include, among others, speech or public speaking, videography, photography, and radio announcing. All related information will later be published through the student portal to ensure easier access.
The stages for submitting an application to participate in a competition begin with filling out a Google Form. The detailed information required includes the applicant’s name, student ID number (NIM), GPA—students in their first semester who do not yet have a GPA are advised to enter 0—the name of the competition, the organizer, the registration period, a link to the competition announcement, the participant’s track record, the type of activity (whether individual or group), the registration fee, and whether the participant is part of the Communication Studies Student Association (HMP COMRADE) or a member of one of its clubs. All of this information must be submitted to the program for approval. Applications can be submitted well in advance to allow sufficient time for the approval process.
Ms. Virgitta explained that the next step after completing the Google Form is to send an email using the student’s official email account to the Program Study’s email address. The approval process takes approximately five working days. Once the application is approved, the program will respond to the student’s email and provide a proposal submission templateto be completed. After the proposal is filled out and submitted, the program will proceed with processing the application.
One of the benefits of participating in competitions is the opportunity to build networking, especially since on-the-job training will take place in the sixth semester. One of the key aspects evaluated during on-the-job training is the students’ portfolio. This assessment is not limited to class-based portfolios, but also includes active participation in various competitions. There is also the possibility that students who demonstrate strong potential through competitions may be given opportunities to be sent outside the city to further develop their experience.
Sesi pemaparan materi selesai. Dilanjutkan untuk memberikan token of appreciation kepada Miss Virgitta Septyana, S.I.Kom., M.Si selaku narasumber di acara COMMEET ini.
After the presentation session, the event continued with a Q&A session, during which two questions were raised. The first question concerned the minimum GPA requirement to participate in competitions. Ms. Virgitta explained that students are expected to have a GPA above 3.0, as the first semester marks the initial stage of academic life. If a student has a GPA around 2.0, it is usually more challenging to improve it later on.
The second question addressed the procedure for applying to competitions held outside the island, such as those organized by universities in Bali, Surabaya, and other cities. Ms. Virgitta responded that the mechanism remains the same, whether the competition is held within the JABODETABEK area or outside the city. However, the program will take additional considerations, particularly by reviewing the student’s track record, before deciding whether to approve the application. Students are therefore required to fill out the Google Form according to the previously explained mechanism. If further information is needed, the program may invite the student to a Google Meet session to obtain more detailed and comprehensive information. This allows the program to better assess the considerations involved when applying for competitions outside the island. The material presentation session then concluded, followed by the presentation of a token of appreciation to Ms. Virgitta Septyana, S.I.Kom., M.Si., as the guest speaker of the COMMEET event.
The event then moved into a session explaining the Communication Studies Student Organization, COMRADE, delivered by Mario Luis Pangestu, the Chairperson of COMRADE for the 2025/2026 term. COMRADE serves as a platform for Communication Studies students to channel and develop their interests, talents, and potential. This session was followed by an introduction to the various clubs under COMRADE. The program continued with a games session as an ice breaker, during which the Masters of Ceremony invited all participants in the Lecture Hall to join in. After the games session concluded, the MCs asked all students to complete the attendance check before the event was officially closed.
