On Thursday, December 14, 2023, 3rd Semester Hospitality and Tourism Study Program students with Entertainment and Leisure Management Specialization held a Talkshow event with the theme “Journey Maker: Insights From Tour and Travel Experts”. This event was held offline at The UBM Master Kitchen, Serpong Campus. This event is also mandatory to be attended by students of Hospitality and Tourism Study Program 1st Semester. In addition, students with other study programs are also allowed to register and participate in this event.
This activity was held with the aim of adding insight and knowledge to participants about the tourism industry, especially tour and travel. In this activity, participants will get a lot of knowledge and insight into how to become a good tour guide and tour leader, the positive and negative sides of working as a tour guide or tour leader, and what things need to be considered to be a tour guide and tour leader. This activity was hosted by the MC of the event, Klarissa Lee Arief and also Metha who are students from the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program Semester 3 Entertainment and Leisure Management specialization. At the opening, Indonesia Raya and UBM Mars were sung again led by the dirigible, Elzishilla Aline Yovanca who is also a student from the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program Semester 3 Entertainment and Leisure Management specialization. Then followed by giving a speech by Ms. Supina, SST.Par, M.Par, MM. as Pjs. Head of Academic 2. Then continued with a performance given by the Student Activity Unit, The Vou.
The talk show session was hosted by the moderator, Angel Cecilia Laurent, a student from the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program Semester 3 Entertainment and Leisure Management specialization. Furthermore, the moderator read the profile and introduction of the speaker, Mr. Robert Alexander Moningka and after that the moderator conducted questions and answers with the speaker.
The event continued with a talkshow session that discussed Mr. Robert’s experiences such as how his experiences when bringing tours, the ups and downs he experienced while being a tour guide or tour leader, and what motivated him to become Chairman of ITLA (Indonesian Tour Leaders Association). Furthermore, we entered the QnA session, where participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the topic being discussed to Mr. Robert, for example, Mr. Robert’s ups and downs in becoming a tour guide and tour leader, between tour leader and tour guide, what profession Mr. Robert is more interested in, and what Indonesian culture Mr. Robert wants to introduce abroad.
After the QnA session, the activity continued with the Token of Appreciation given by Ms. Roozana Maria Ritonga BBA., M.Par. to Mr. Robert Alexander Moningka and followed by giving a few words by Ms. Roozana Maria Ritonga BBA., M.Par. Furthermore, a documentation session and event attendance were held which was then followed by a performance by the Student Activity Unit, Biefindc.
