Jakarta, November 3, 2025 — The Visual Communication Design and Interactive Design Study Programs of Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) proudly hosted an inspiring event titled “Career in the Animation Industry: Insights from the Industry”, held at The UBM Premiere Class, Ancol Campus. The event took place on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:10 PM, featuring Ronny Gani, a renowned figure in the global animation industry, as the guest speaker.
Ronny Gani is the Co-founder & Chief of Creative at KAWI Animation, and Co-founder of Bengkel Animasi, a creative platform dedicated to nurturing Indonesian animation talent. He is also known for his extensive career as a Senior Animator in several world-famous films such as Jurassic World, Avengers: Endgame, Ready Player One, and many more. His deep experience and contributions to the animation field made this session highly anticipated by students eager to pursue careers in creative industries.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Ms. Yana Erlyana, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in bridging students with real-world industry practices. Mr. M Garry Saputra, a lecturer from the Interactive Design Study Program, was also present to support the event and encourage students to engage actively in professional development opportunities.
During the main session, Ronny shared his professional journey spanning over two decades in the animation industry. He discussed how he started his career and eventually became part of major Hollywood productions. He also offered valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in today’s global animation landscape, highlighting the importance of relevant skill sets, professional attitude, and multidisciplinary collaboration in large-scale animation projects.
More than 100 students attended the session, showing great enthusiasm throughout the event—especially during the interactive Q&A session. Participants asked a variety of insightful questions about international animation production processes, the use of modern technologies such as motion capture, and how to build a strong portfolio that appeals to global studios. Ronny encouraged students to continuously improve their craft and not be afraid to start small. “The animation industry needs people who are not only talented but also passionate and committed to learning. Don’t be afraid of failure—each project is a new opportunity to grow,” he shared during the session.
Towards the end of the event, Ronny announced a special registration discount for UBM students interested in joining the Bengkel Animasi program. Jakarta, 3 November 2025 — Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) dan Desain Interaktif Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) kembali menghadirkan kegiatan inspiratif bertajuk “Career in the Animation Industry: Insights from the Industry” yang diselenggarakan di The UBM Premiere Class, Kampus Ancol. Acara yang berlangsung pada hari Senin, 3 November 2025 pukul 13.00–15.10 ini menghadirkan Ronny Gani, sosok ternama di dunia animasi internasional, sebagai pembicara utama.
Ronny Gani merupakan Co-founder & Chief of Creative di KAWI Animation, sekaligus Co-founder Bengkel Animasi, sebuah wadah pengembangan talenta animator Indonesia. Ia juga dikenal sebagai Senior Animator yang telah berkontribusi dalam berbagai film populer dunia, seperti Jurassic World, Avengers: Endgame, Ready Player One, dan sejumlah produksi besar lainnya. Pengalaman dan dedikasinya dalam industri animasi menjadikan sesi ini sangat dinantikan oleh para mahasiswa yang ingin meniti karier di dunia kreatif.
Acara dibuka dengan sambutan hangat dari Ibu Erlyana selaku dosen pendamping sekaligus Sekprodi DKV, yang menekankan pentingnya kegiatan seperti ini untuk menjembatani mahasiswa dengan dunia industri. Turut hadir pula Bapak M Garry Saputra, dosen Desain Komunikasi Visual, yang memberikan dukungan penuh terhadap inisiatif pengembangan wawasan industri bagi mahasiswa.
Dalam sesi utama, Ronny Gani membagikan pengalamannya selama lebih dari dua dekade di dunia animasi profesional. Ia menyoroti perjalanan kariernya dari awal hingga bisa bergabung dalam proyek-proyek film Hollywood ternama, sekaligus memberikan pandangan realistis mengenai tantangan dan peluang di industri animasi global. Ia juga menekankan pentingnya skill set yang relevan, attitude profesional, serta kolaborasi lintas disiplin dalam produksi animasi berskala besar.
Mahasiswa terlihat sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan ini. Lebih dari 100 peserta memenuhi ruangan, dan antusiasme mereka semakin meningkat pada sesi tanya jawab (Q&A). Beragam pertanyaan diajukan, mulai dari proses produksi animasi internasional, penggunaan teknologi terbaru seperti motion capture, hingga tips membangun portofolio profesional yang menarik bagi studio global.
Ronny juga menyampaikan motivasi bagi mahasiswa untuk terus mengasah kemampuan dan tidak takut memulai dari hal kecil. “Industri animasi membutuhkan orang-orang yang tidak hanya berbakat, tetapi juga punya komitmen dan rasa ingin tahu yang besar. Jangan takut untuk belajar dari kegagalan, karena setiap proyek selalu menjadi kesempatan baru untuk berkembang,” ujarnya.
Menariknya, pada akhir acara, Ronny Gani juga mengumumkan promo potongan biaya registrasi khusus untuk mahasiswa UBM yang ingin mengikuti program pelatihan di Bengkel Animasi.
