Tangerang, 22 Mei 2025 – Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual Universitas Bunda Mulia (DKV UBM) kembali menyelenggarakan kuliah umum bertajuk “Beyond Design: Building a Career & Business in the Creative Industry”. Kegiatan ini membahas cara membangun karier dan bisnis di industri kreatif, serta sikap-sikap penting yang perlu dimiliki oleh desainer muda.
Kuliah umum berlangsung pada Rabu, 21 Mei 2025, di Lecture Hall, Alfa Tower. Acara ini menghadirkan Bima Kusuma, CEO dan Founder Sonderflex (PT Kusuma Mahakarya Grup), sebagai pembicara. Sebanyak 160 mahasiswa DKV UBM bersama delapan dosen turut hadir dan mengikuti kegiatan ini.
Dalam paparannya, Bima Kusuma menjelaskan proses dari desainer dan membangun bisnis dan apa saja yang dibutuhkan oleh seorang ilustrator dan desainer untuk memulai karier profesional. Ia menekankan bahwa kedisiplinan memiliki peran lebih penting dibandingkan sekadar passion. Ia juga mendorong mahasiswa untuk mulai membangun portofolio melalui tugas-tugas kuliah sebagai langkah awal memasuki dunia industri.
Sesi berlangsung secara interaktif. Mahasiswa aktif bertanya dalam sesi diskusi, mulai dari cara menjaga konsistensi berkarya, mempertahankan identitas di tengah perkembangan teknologi AI, hingga strategi menjadi desainer yang tetap relevan di era saat ini.
Kuliah umum ini memberikan wawasan berharga dan menjadi bekal penting bagi mahasiswa dalam mempersiapkan diri menghadapi dunia kerja. Kegiatan ini juga menunjukkan komitmen Universitas Bunda Mulia dalam menjembatani teori dan praktik industri, sesuai dengan moto “Bridging Education to the Real World”. Melalui kegiatan ini, mahasiswa diharapkan semakin termotivasi untuk menggali potensi, mengembangkan kreativitas, dan membangun konsistensi dalam berkarya.
Tangerang, May 22, 2025 – Visual Communication Design Study Program of Bunda Mulia University (DKV UBM) once again held a public lecture entitled “Beyond Design: Building a Career & Business in the Creative Industry”. This activity discussed how to build a career and business in the creative industry, as well as important attitudes that young designers need to have.
The public lecture took place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Lecture Hall, Alfa Tower. This event presented Bima Kusuma, CEO and Founder of Sonderflex (PT Kusuma Mahakarya Grup), as a speaker. A total of 160 DKV UBM students along with eight lecturers attended and participated in this activity.
In his presentation, Bima Kusuma explained the process of being a designer and building a business and what is needed by an illustrator and designer to start a professional career. He emphasized that discipline plays a more important role than just passion. He also encouraged students to start building a portfolio through college assignments as a first step into the industrial world.
The session was interactive. Students actively asked questions in the discussion session, starting from how to maintain consistency in work, maintaining identity amidst the development of AI technology, to strategies for becoming a designer who remains relevant in today’s era.
This public lecture provided valuable insights and became important provisions for students in preparing themselves to face the world of work. This activity also demonstrated Bunda Mulia University’s commitment to bridging theory and industrial practice, in accordance with the motto “Bridging Education to the Real World”. Through this activity, students are expected to be increasingly motivated to explore their potential, develop creativity, and build consistency in their work.
