On November 21, 2024, Mr. Nicholas Wilson, S.E., M.M., a lecturer from the Management Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) Serpong Campus, organized a Community Service Program (PKM) at SMK Budi Luhur, Tangerang City. The event, themed Entrepreneurship & Leadership, was attended by 20 participants and lasted approximately 90 minutes, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. This PKM activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of how entrepreneurship and leadership can assist them (as entrepreneurs) in developing their businesses and how good leadership skills can help them analyze and prepare for establishing and managing a successful business. Mr. Nicholas was joined in this program by Alexandra Natalie, an active student of the Management Study Program at UBM Serpong Campus, and the Marketing team from Universitas Bunda Mulia.
The material presentation explained the importance of understanding entrepreneurship and leadership concepts in building and managing a business effectively. Entrepreneurship is about the courage to start a business and how a leader creates a vision, recognizes opportunities, and takes the strategic steps needed to achieve success. Conversely, leadership involves directing, motivating, and managing a team to ensure all business processes run smoothly according to the set objectives. In entrepreneurship, a business leader needs more than just selling skills. They must identify their target market, ensure their products or services meet the needs of this market, and create unique value or differentiation that sets their products apart from competitors. Entrepreneurship is the art of identifying opportunities and managing them through well-thought-out strategies to achieve sustainable profits. Meanwhile, leadership is the key to ensuring that every aspect of a business operates according to plan. A leader must develop operational strategies, manage resources, and motivate their team to stay aligned with the company’s vision and mission.
