Oleh: Sylviana Hannyca Ho (Mahasiswi Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi Angkatan 2024) — Senin (10/08), Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) melalui Program Studi Bisnis Digital dan Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi menyelenggarakan Semiloka Dosen bertajuk “What I Wish I Knew Before I Started My Ph.D.: Lessons from the Doctoral Journey”dengan tema “A Reflective Conversation on the Realities of Doctoral Study, Personal Growth, and Building a Meaningful Academic Career.” Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh dosen Program Studi Bisnis Digital dan Ilmu Komunikasi dari Kampus Ancol dan Serpong serta menghadirkan Angeline Nariswari, Associate Professor, School of Business, California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Amerika Serikat, sebagai narasumber. Semiloka ini bertujuan menjadi ruang refleksi dan berbagi pengalaman mengenai perjalanan pendidikan doktoral sekaligus mendukung pengembangan karier akademik dosen.
By: Sylviana Hannyca Ho (Student of Communication Science Study Program, Class of 2024) — On Monday (08/10), Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM), through the Digital Business Study Program and the Communication Science Study Program, held a Lecturers’ Workshop/Seminar titled “What I Wish I Knew Before I Started My Ph.D.: Lessons from the Doctoral Journey” with the theme “A Reflective Conversation on the Realities of Doctoral Study, Personal Growth, and Building a Meaningful Academic Career.” This event was attended by Digital Business and Communication Science lecturers from both the Ancol and Serpong campuses, featuring Dr. Angeline Nariswari, Associate Professor at the School of Business, California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), United States, as the keynote speaker. The seminar aimed to serve as a space for reflection and sharing experiences regarding the doctoral education journey, as well as to support the professional growth of the lecturers’ academic careers.

Kegiatan diawali dengan sesi pemaparan materi oleh Dr. Angeline Nariswari yang membagikan pengalaman dan refleksinya selama menempuh pendidikan doktoral. Dalam sesi tersebut, peserta memperoleh wawasan mengenai berbagai tantangan akademik yang dihadapi selama studi S3, proses pengembangan diri, hingga pembelajaran yang diperoleh sepanjang perjalanan doktoral. Narasumber juga menjelaskan pentingnya membangun agenda riset, meningkatkan produktivitas publikasi ilmiah, memperluas jejaring dan kolaborasi akademik, serta merancang kontribusi yang bermakna sebagai pendidik dan peneliti. Semiloka berlangsung secara interaktif melalui sesi diskusi yang memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta untuk saling berbagi pengalaman, perspektif, serta strategi dalam menghadapi berbagai tahapan perjalanan akademik.
The event began with a presentation session by Dr. Angeline Nariswari, who shared her experiences and reflections during her doctoral studies. In this session, participants gained insights into various academic challenges faced during Ph.D. studies, the process of personal growth, and the lessons learned throughout the doctoral journey. The speaker also explained the importance of building a research agenda, increasing scientific publication productivity, expanding academic networks and collaboration, and designing meaningful contributions as educators and researchers. The seminar was interactive, featuring a discussion session that provided participants with the opportunity to share experiences, perspectives, and strategies for navigating the various stages of the academic journey.
