Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM) Kampus Serpong menyelenggarakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertajuk “Pelatihan Portrait Photography Bersama Siswa-Siswi SMA Citra Berkat Citra Raya.”
The Visual Communication Design (VCD) Study Program of Universitas Bunda Mulia (UBM), Serpong Campus, organized a community service activity titled “Portrait Photography Training with Students of SMA Citra Berkat Citra Raya.” The event was held at Room M1, 12th Floor, UBM Tower, Universitas Bunda Mulia Serpong Campus.
This activity aimed to introduce the fundamentals of portrait photography to students, particularly in camera operation, artificial lighting management, visual composition, and posing techniques.
The materials were delivered by VCD lecturers with the support of students as facilitators through a participatory learning approach that combined theory, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
“This activity is designed not only to provide conceptual understanding, but also to allow participants to directly experience the photographic process in an applied manner,” said Inovensius Hugo Bima Wicaksana, S.Ds., M.Sn., the lecturer in charge.
During the practical session, participants were given the opportunity to operate cameras and arrange simple lighting setups in a simulated portrait photography environment. Direct guidance was provided to help participants gradually understand the basic techniques.
As an outcome of the activity, each participant received portrait photo documentation produced during the practice session. These photos could be downloaded as both documentation and a keepsake of their learning experience.
One participant shared, “We gained a better understanding of how lighting affects photo results and how to arrange poses to make them more appealing.”
This activity was also integrated with the “Media Rekam” (Recording Media) course (DKF07), providing added value not only for external participants but also as a contextual learning experience for university students.
Through this initiative, Universitas Bunda Mulia hopes to enhance visual literacy and encourage students’ interest in photography and the creative industry.
