Dengan pesatnya perkembangan industri kreatif, ilustrasi menjadi salah satu elemen penting dalam menyampaikan cerita secara visual. Ilustrasi tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pelengkap, tetapi juga sebagai medium yang mampu membawa narasi hidup dan memikat audiens. Untuk itu, pemahaman tentang visual storytelling melalui ilustrasi menjadi sangat relevan bagi mahasiswa lintas disiplin.
Kuliah Umum bertajuk “Visual Storytelling: Breathing Life into Stories through Illustration” hadir sebagai sarana penyuluhan bagi mahasiswa yang tertarik mendalami peran ilustrasi di industri kreatif. Acara ini terbuka tidak hanya untuk mahasiswa dari program studi desain, tetapi juga bagi mahasiswa lintas prodi yang ingin memperluas wawasan tentang storytelling visual.
Kuliah Umum dilaksanakan pada Kamis, 18 September 2025, pukul 11:30 – 13:10, bertempat di The UBM Lecture Hall, Alfa Tower Lantai 5. Narasumber pada acara ini adalah Liffi Wongso, alumni DKV Universitas Bunda Mulia sekaligus ilustrator profesional yang telah berkecimpung di berbagai proyek ilustrasi industri.
Dalam sesi Kuliah Umum ini, Liffi Wongso memaparkan proses kreatif dalam membuat ilustrasi, tren terkini dalam visual storytelling, serta strategi untuk menghadirkan cerita yang hidup melalui karya visual. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga mendapat kesempatan untuk mengikuti sesi praktik sehingga dapat langsung mengaplikasikan teknik dan workflow ilustrasi yang telah dipelajari.
Acara ini berjalan sukses dengan antusiasme tinggi dari peserta, membuktikan pentingnya pengembangan kompetensi ilustrasi dalam industri kreatif masa kini.

With the rapid development of the creative industry, illustration has become a vital element in visual storytelling. Illustration does not only serve as a complement but also as a medium that brings narratives to life and captivates audiences. Therefore, understanding visual storytelling through illustration is highly relevant for students across various disciplines.
The Public Lecture titled “Visual Storytelling: Breathing Life into Stories through Illustration” was held as a platform for students interested in exploring the role of illustration in the creative industry. The event was open not only to design students but also to students from other faculties who wished to expand their knowledge of visual storytelling.
The lecture took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:10 PM, at The UBM Lecture Hall, Alfa Tower, 5th Floor. The speaker was Liffi Wongso, a DKV Universitas Bunda Mulia alumnus and professional illustrator who has been involved in various illustration projects in the creative industry.
During the session, Liffi Wongso shared insights on the creative process of illustration, current trends in visual storytelling, and strategies to bring stories to life through visual work. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on session to directly apply the techniques and workflow learned during the lecture.
